1956 - Paul DIXON and Ralph WHITSELL of Howell County, MO caught 12 bass in four hours using Hawaiian Wigglers for bait. They caught the fish in the Red Bank area on Lake Norfork fishing off the rocky points. The largest bass weighed 4 pounds. Ralph D WHITSELL, Jr. standing next to the men.

Good Road Boosters in Thayer, MO on their first trip to Oregon County. They organized caravans and traveled through the state promoting the building of paved roads to "lift Missouri out of the mud."

1973 - Oscar HOPKINS and Celia CAMPBELL HOPKINS of Lebo Route in Howell County, MO grew four sweet potatoes that weighed a total of 11 pounds and 2 oz. They said they were the largest they had ever grown. One alone, weighed 4 lb 4oz, was 14 inches long and 14 inches around.

Pictures I took at ELIJAH, MO in Ozark County around 1987. I think the house with the big porch was Dr. BEACH's home. Someone told me that there used to be an opera house in the small community. Is that true? Can anyone identify the other two buildings?
