Jessica & Andrew originally planned a larger wedding with friends and family, but chose to elope instead and have an intimate day centered around the two of them. They weren’t sure where they wanted to elope, so I helped them choose the Apostle Islands since they loved the dramatic rock formations overlooking Lake Superior and the option to sail and have a bit more of an adventure.

They started their day getting ready at their Airbnb before sharing a first look focused on both of them. From there, we drove to the Madeline Island ferry line. The morning fog stuck around for most of their time on the island, which created a moody atmosphere for their ceremony and photos. I personally love foggy weather on Madeline Island.

Jessica and Andrew wrote down so much for their vows, they each had a large binder filled with words to share with one another. After a game of rock paper scissors to decide who would go first, Jessica won but chose Andrew to start. Once he finished his vows, he surprised her by singing “Can’t Help Falling in Love” by Elvis Presley.

After exchanging vows and rings and officially becoming husband and wife, we explored the island and took photos before heading back to Bayfield. For the second half of their day, we set sail with True North Sailing to Hermit Island. As a surprise for Andrew, Jessica arranged for the college A ca****la group he founded to record a song for him.

At Hermit Island, they had a picnic on the beach with champagne and cake before getting back on the Lake to enjoy the water and sail. We even saw some eagles along the way! Once we returned to Bayfield, they had a private dinner experience planned with Yaku Superior.

I had such a fun time with Jessica & Andrew and loved creating such an intentional elopement experience for them.

The Apostle Islands is hands down my favorite place for elopements. Epic rocky shorelines, sailing on Lake Superior, and sandy beaches. And the best part is, I know the best places to take you.

How I create a bulletproof backup plan for your elopement.

1. I don’t book the days around your elopement in case we need to reschedule. I also don’t take on more that two elopements per week, twenty in a year. This gives more flexibility in case we need to switch days.

2. I keep a close eye on the weather the week leading up to your day. If there is a little rain in the forcast but it’s not storming, I bring clear umbrellas so we can still be outside and stay dry. Rainy days can be a vibe so it's not always a bad thing!

3. If the weather isn’t good at all, we switch to plan B. Either that’s chagning up the timeline or switching to another day entirly.

This is one way I keep your elopement experience stress free!

Myth: Elopements are just a quick 2 hour photoshoot.
Fact: Your Elopement can be a full-day experience designed around what matters most to you.

In a society where weddings can be just a huge production, eloping allows you to authentically celebrate your marriage.

Modern weddings have become more and more production heavy. Instead of a day focused on the two of you celebrating your marriage, it can easily become for show and content.

Eloping allows you to get married without the big production and performance in front of a crowd. If you hate the idea of all the fuss that comes with having a traditional wedding, eloping could be just what you're looking for.

Jenna & Jarrod's Madeline Island elopement started with a sunrise ceremony where they had the whole area to themselves. Afterwards, we explored the trail and took some photos, then they had a picnic on the beach and canoed in the lagoon. To finish their day, they went into town for lunch at Pub Restaurant and that wrapped up their day!
