I’ve been photographing Carlos since his senior year at Dodge City High School, so seeing this recognition feels extra special.
I’m incredibly proud of all he’s accomplished and the impact he’s already making as an educator in our community. Thank you for trusting me to document so many milestones along the way.
Congratulations, Carlos — this is just the beginning. 📚👏
Dodge City USD 443 is investing in the future of education through the Kansas Registered Teacher Apprenticeship Program (RTAP), and apprentice teacher Carlos Teran is a shining example of its impact.
Since beginning the program in August 2024, Carlos has combined hands-on classroom experience with his studies at Kansas State University, building strong relationships with students and growing as an educator under the mentorship of third-grade teacher Blake Cook. Together, they are helping students succeed while demonstrating the power of collaboration in the classroom.
RTAP is helping USD 443 address teacher shortages by developing talented educators from within the community. What started with one apprentice has grown to nearly 20, creating a stronger pipeline of future teachers who are committed to Dodge City and its students.
By investing in aspiring educators like Carlos, USD 443 is not only filling classrooms—it is building the next generation of teachers right here at home. 🍎📚
