The Shames JCC on the Hudson was the perfect venue for this. It was the right audience and community to share such an important & empowering message for women. So proud of my friend Ilise Harris. I'm so glad to be a part of it in any way that I can because the message needs to be shared!

Last week, we screened Your Roots Are Showing to a full house at the Shames JCC in Tarrytown, NY. This coincided with receiving a generous grant from the Artemis Rising Foundation which will enable us to bring the film to more audiences. We simultaneously launched YourRootsAreShowing.com This capture by illustrates that our hair is indeed our crowning glory- although we know it’s far more complicated than that. Thank you to the JCC for hosting a great event. Thank you to for providing tasty high fiber/high protein sustenance! Thanks to for your support for the gorgeous website, and to everyone who came out to watch.

Many people tell me they feel nervous about having their headshot taken.

That’s completely normal.

My #1 goal is simply to make you feel comfortable in front of the camera. When you feel relaxed and confident, the rest will follow.

In fact, most people tell me that by the end of the session they feel more confident and that they actually had fun during the process.

I work with professionals and corporate teams to create headshots that feel authentic, approachable, and professional.

Watch this short video to see what it’s like to work with me, whether we have five minutes or an hour.

This is shaping up to be a really fun event. We will have some products to check out, and a panel discussion which is also in developement. This conversation is about much more than whether to let your grays show or not. I wanted to get this link up because the chorus has been clammoring for another Westchester screening. We are grateful to the Tarrytown JCC for allowing us to make it happen. The link is above.

Years ago I worked for a brilliant corporate portrait photographer who always said "there's only one sun." I carry this teaching with me every time I go to set up my lighting and believe that it produces very natural results. Yesterday, I had the privilege of doing a headshot for a wise young man. He came to me requesting "dramatic lighting" because he said it would stand out and that he "didn't want to look like a bot." Here is the result.

"After the Laughter"

Happy Friday everyone! I hope this photo brings a smile to your face! I had the pleasure of meeting and photographing this kind gentleman during a high volume headshot event a few months ago.

There is a strategy that I like to use during a headshot session. It is called: “after the laughter.” Very often, if I can get someone to laugh, the photos right after the laughter can be magical. Often this enables me to get some great photos of someone in a very relaxed and comfortable state. It’s always my goal to make sure people are comfortable during their headshot session.

Other than the laughing photo, which one do you like best?

Looking for a college graduation gift idea...? How about a professional headshot? Did you know that having a professional headshot on your Linkedin profile increases visibility by at least 50%?

In a time where there is so much uncertainty, due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, it was an honor to be selected as one of 200 photographers to participate in the initiative on July 22, 2020 with www.headshotbooker.com.

It was one of the most memorable and rewarding experiences I’ve ever had. I recently did a candid interview with the very talented to discuss this incredible experience.

Over the course of one month, 200 photographers and many other talented individuals collaborated nationwide. Our mission was to provide FREE professional headshots to unemployed Americans who have lost their jobs due to the pandemic. We worked together planning toward the common goal of providing 10,000 complimentary headshots in ONE DAY in all 50 states. It was a remarkable effort by photographers to give unemployed Americans free headshots for their job search.

I truly enjoyed working with on this project. He’s incredibly talented!
