Homecoming for many is a dream come true, and this year, it is especially so, with this year‘s theme of Fairytales. Dickson County High School students each were assigned different Fairytales, to bring to life for this year‘s homecoming festivities.

But for a fairytale to truly begin, they all must begin the same way, the storybook must open and the story begins.

Once upon a homecoming, in a kingdom, not that far away. There was a school full of students excitedly waiting to compete in a series of competitions, where one grade would be crowned the victors. A week of preparation for these competitions has taken place as the students compete in the following games; T-shirt Design, Skit Performance, Pep-rally & Sign Design, Float Design and over all winner. All mounting toward the claiming of the Mythical Spirit Stick that contains the spirit of each of the winning classes from year before. But at last the journey, is not so easy to achieve. So who will win the games? The Freshman class of 2029 with the story of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Sophomores class of 2028 with the story of Little Orange Riding Hood, Juniors class of 2027 with the story of Rapunzel, Senior Class of 2026 with the story of Sleeping Beauty. The stage is set, the judges have arrived, the classes are ready for the journey to begin.

The DCHS Cougar Battalion’s 13th annual Military Ball was held on March 1, 2025, at the Tennessee National Guard building in Dickson, TN. For many in the Cougar Battalion this events has become one of the most anticipated events of the year. Though over the course of 13 years, the Ball has changed, it still brings the same energy and enjoyment year after year with events such as the Dinner, Dance, and infamous Grog Ceremony being a few of the staples. Though over the course of time, comes change from guest speakers to awards and additional elaborate ceremony’s, such as cake cutting and Fallen Soldier Remembrances. This reminds us that with each new group of students brings a new outlook and renewed sense of energy to the program.

This year was a special year for all those in attendance, as this was the last year that First Sergeant Randy Powers would been heading the program, he will be officially be stepping into retirement after serving 28 years in the Army National Guard and an additional 14 years as one of the two original teachers for the DCHS JROTC program. For 14 years, he has helped shape the lives of many students as they made their way through DCHS. For his many years of service to the DCHS Cougar Battalion, we salute him and thank him for all he has done for the program.

The Dance.
