We enjoyed a private tour of the PHS Flower Show this year through the Union League. Our guide, Darren Fava , a PHS volunteer, and communications director for Philly Parks & Rec was wonderful. Made the tour much more fun and informative than if we had walked around on our own. After the tour, we enjoyed brunch and a presentation from PHS leadership on the history and significance of the Flower Show. A couple of soundbytes: Largest and longest-running flower show in the world - first held in 1829, and now draws over 250,000 visitors each year. This year’s theme was “United by Flowers,” and the show had a number of unique urban landscapes as well as more traditional residential exhibits. The miniatures are always a favorite, and were really well done - see if you can spot them in my gallery! The entrance, “Edges and Reflections” was a stunning burst of colors and light, thanks in part to our friends at Valley Forge Flowers!
