I really just can’t believe it. I have a 5 year old. 🥹💕 happy birthday to my lil dude. Becoming your mama is the wildest. thing. Thank you for teaching me how to love, be patient and laugh. You are the absolute best thing in my life. I’m so excited for the person you are becoming. Lolli would be so proud of you.

Hi hello! If you’re new around here, I’m Karmen of Kelaine (Kay-ee-layne) photo. I started out with nightlife photography and fell in love with the food and beverage scene in Chicago. In 2018 I moved back to Detroit and in 2021 I started my family independently and welcomed Elexander into the world. Five months into motherhood, came into my life and introduced me to the world of nonprofit organization & leadership. From there, I further developed my engagement in community organizing, entrepreneurial support and of course, photography.

Time Machine! So if you aren’t on it’s pretty cute over there… anyways I tripped and fell into some memories and I am teleporting you back to 2013-2018 where I was living off of my work as a photographer on the dance floor. Lots of “nightlife isn’t what it used to be” finding my algorithm and 1) you’re right, thank goodness 2) you’re wrong amazing parties still exist you just aren’t invited.
There are literally THOUsANdS of more photos over my 10 years in Chicago of y’all living your best lives at parties like .calendar and many others.
What a time. Forever grateful to for teaching me how to use a flash and at for putting me onto this life.
My life has slowed down significantly since those late nights of being towed off of Milwaukee Ave. But I still love a dance floor, and my emotional support camera to keep me occupied. 😂 I fooled myself into thinking I was an extrovert at clubs.. I truly need a task or else I’ll start bussing tables and bartending. Anyways enjoy the stroll down memory lane!

Can you believe it?! THREE YEARS AGO I took allll my big feelings and wrote an ebook. (As we do..) Looking back, this is still very important information for anyone building, leading, or joining a team. If you are feeling overwhelmed while building your business, welcome to the club. I’m reposting the e-book because all of this still rings true. Value yourself. Ask questions. Keep going. My mother was a massive support for me- not only through my life, but specifically in this writing process for this project. I think more entrepreneurs need blueprints on how to conduct themselves in business, particularly when doing contract/1099 work. In no way do I know it all, but I have learned a thing or two.
