Today I was able to share my successes and challenges as Kelainephoto at 1 Million Cups Detroit Metro Incubizo

Since presenting in Feb of 2025 I have:
* Doubled my revenue
* Added 12 new clients, including Lysa Davis | Business Coach | Speaker | Money Strategist , Life on Purpose Detroit, and Henry Ford, The ReVamp Clothing Swap Festival, After the Storm - MI The SOURCE
* Maintained long-term partnerships with Aya House TeQuion , Plug and Play, Health Initiative Fontinalis Partners and Bianca’s Haven

I’ve expanded services to include full communications management.
This isn’t just about social media. It’s about creating digital packages of your assets, building presentation decks, human-first content, and a genuine reflection of who you are and what your business does- so you can get back to work.

I’m thankful for the room of entrepreneurs and doers like Doris Hage Josh Champagne Daryl L Peguese JuJuan Buford, Sr. Tenicia Moulden, Esq. Heyyy that’s me!

Sometimes she’s up front holding a microphone. Sometimes she’s everywhere behind a camera. But mostly she’s active behind the scenes, organizing sponsors and special events, wrangling presenters and presentation decks and hardest of all, the herding of the cats job known as keeping the organizers organized. She’s Karmen Elaine Wettlin, co-lead of 1MC Detroit Metro and this week’s spotlight in our “Know Your Organizers” series, where we’re giving you an inside look at the people on our organizing team who make this happen every Wednesday, 8:30 – 10:00 at Incubizo in Ferndale.

Karmen is runs her own business, kelaine photography, where she does creative and strategic storytelling with visuals to match. If you’ve been around long (or just attended last week’s 1MC) you’ve seen her fabulous work photographing our gatherings. She also does important work with the nonprofit, After the Storm.

Karmen has been a key to our success since the early days. In 2024, she attended 1MC for the first time on official Michigan Works business, which connects small businesses to various resources as well as providing career services for individuals. She saw synergy in what 1MC and Michigan Works represented.

Asked what she likes best about1MC, she said, “the ability to connect people to reach other and to valuable resources they didn't know about before is really rewarding.”

She also has this advice to anyone new to 1MC, “Keep showing up. Consistency is important, and you never know who you will meet the following week!”

Next time you come to 1 Million Cups, chances are that one of those people you’ll meet is Karmen. Whether you’ve been here from the start or plan on attending your first event, make sure to say hello to Karmen and thank her for all she does.
