Regional Transit Authority of Southeast Michigan-QLine Operations & Maintenance Base in the New Center neighborhood of Detroit, Michigan
On August, 14th, 2026, while on duty as the afternoon QLine Operations Supervisor for the 3.3-mile streetcar line on Woodward Ave, one of my Streetcar Operators alerted me that the Goodyear Blimp was over-flying our Operations & Maintenance Base in the New Center neighborhood due to a nearby Goodyear tire dealership celebrating a recently completed remodel (as it turned out). Since I am also the resident in-house railroad photographer at the RTA-QLINE and an award-winning railroad photographer in my own right, my camera bag is always at work with me should a photographic opportunity arise. So, using my Nikon Z5 full-frame camera with my longer-range F4-6.3 24-200mm lens attached and waited for the perfect angle to shoot a broadside of the Goodyear Blimp while it did laps above the neighborhood. This photo is the result of waiting patiently on the sidewalk outside my work building for the Goodyear Blimp to show its side dead on to me. Photo was then retouched using Google Photos for color and lighting corrections only.
