I'm not anti-first-look...

I actually still really love them.

I love the breathing room they can create in a wedding timeline, the time they give you together before the ceremony, and the way they can take the edge off some of those pre-ceremony nerves.

But these two wanted something different.

They wanted the first time they saw each other to be across the ceremony lawn. So that's exactly what they did.

And then, after they were married and family photos were finished, everyone left and they created their own quiet moment together. They read private vows, took a breath, and then we wandered into portraits without anywhere else they needed to be right that second.

It was such a good reminder that the meaningful part isn't following the “right” order of a wedding day.

It's knowing which moments matter to you and making room for them.

There’s a big difference between “here’s what I’ve learned” and “here’s what you should do.”

I absolutely have opinions after photographing a lot of weddings. 😂 And if you ask, I’ll tell you what I’ve seen work, what might make your wedding timeline easier, what a particular choice means for your photographs, and what tradeoffs you may not have considered.

But I also know I’m not the one getting married.

Something that was perfect for one couple might feel completely wrong for another.

Good wedding planning advice should help you understand your options well enough to make an intentional decision—not make you feel like there was a correct answer you somehow missed.

So bring me the questions. I’m happy to talk through them with you.

I just might answer with “well... what matters most to the two of you?” more often than you expect. 🤎

There are parts of a wedding day that are incredibly personal.

I’m there while nerves are high and happy tears are happening. I’m in the room with your closest people. I’m beside you during both the moments you’ve imagined for months, and plenty you never saw coming.

So when past clients have described working with me as comfortable, easy, welcoming, or like making a new friend, those words have always meant a lot.

Because yes, I care deeply about giving you beautiful wedding photographs.

But I also care about the hours we spend together before those photographs ever exist.

I want having me there to feel like the easy part.
