Rebel Art Alliance was originally founded as Galaxies of Art in September 2014 by Desa Irene. Galaxies of Art was a huge DIY community event based out of the home of Patrick MacCready, Forest Cochran and Desa Irene in Sherman Hills. The name and background story of Lucille's place was created by Patrick MacCready. We hope to someday bring that memory and venue back to life in a different space and
time. Galaxies of Art took place twice, November 8th 2014 and May 2nd 2015. It consisted of 40+ artists, 10 local bands, an open mic poetry jam, drag performances, community art piece, a photobooth and a fire troupe. It was magical gathering of the creative masses. A variety of things took place following the last show and Galaxies of Art became dormant and almost nonexistent for quite sometime. The second Galaxies of Art joined two passionate forces together: Cazzie Hammond and Desa Irene. During the years of GOA's dormancy Cazzie Hammond took the inspiration that it gave her to continue to bring the artist community together. She and Matt Graves hosted a series of art shows based out of The Underground Rockshop. Eventually, Matt Graves decided to stop hosting shows and The Rockshop no longer became a venue for art shows. Desa Irene was ready to reemerge into the scene and join forces with Cazzie. They decided to rename Galaxies of Art and have their new endeavor become a combined effort of the Rockshop and GOA. They transferred the decision to the community and Rebel Art Alliance was born. We are nothing without you. Thank you for being your creative selves.
