I know it wasn't everyone's cup of tea (including the Iowa Athletic Commission) but 4 years ago (tomorrow) there was a short, but dramatic shift in "sports entertainment" in the area with Mid-Death Pro.

You can insult it all you want, but those that were there understood the magic.

Thankful to be able to provide visual marketing material for legends.

Yesterday was the last day of the 2026 fulltime season at Adventureland. For me, this was eighty-seven days in a row, each consisting of four different shows and performed with a mixture of eleven different assistants and stage techs. It is my 39th year doing this. Maintaining this unrelenting schedule causes many of my peers to call me insane.

I don’t find this as difficult as it may seem because I’m performing routines of my own design and scripting. I’ve torn apart each prop, repaired it, redecorated it, made changes to its method, and spent hours analyzing it. It’s not like a memorized speech, so much as it is reliving and paraphrasing a memory.

I’m also surrounded by talented people who learn the essentials of both performing these routines, setting them up, and grasping the last-minute changes that occur. I have great faith and trust in them all. I have very little concern or stress while performing.

People sometimes ask if I ever think about retiring. Retire? From what? The laughter of the audience? Their awestruck stunned silence? The compliments and stories from guests who praise the connective history of watching our shows with different generations of their families?

My answer is a bit of humor, I tell them… I’m already working on tricks I can do from a walker or wheelchair! Ha!

We are still performing on weekends through Labor Day. We’ll be doing two shows at Oktoberfest on Sept. 19. And I’m working on both a new family show and an adult show (PG 13) for the Phantom Fall Fest that runs on weekends through October.
