2021…was my slowest year ever but that was by choice.
We traveled, a lot. We spent 2020 in the house and we were all stir crazy. We took several very long road trips and outside of the insane amount of time spent in the car, I got time to connect with my kids on a whole different level. I’ve always wanted my kids to be comfortable traveling and exploring the world- after we got back from Colorado this fall, my 5 year old has been requesting that instead of a birthday party this year, he wants to go back to Colorado 🥰 We have also battled a lot of illness, my poor 2 year old started daycare this fall and I’m pretty sure has not been there a full week since.
I think a lot of moms reading this can relate but by the end of 2021, I was really struggling to “find myself”, understanding my way through a wife, mom, daughter, fur mom, employee and kind of losing “who I am”… or just not knowing who I am? I lost all of my hobbies and free time in the past couple of years, especially when Covid hit and I had both boys home full-time while working full-time. The past two years have kind of blurred into a never ending Groundhog Day 😳
Where does that leave 2022? I am hoping to get back to more of the basics, especially with my photography, documenting every day life for us and a more “real-life” approach to my business. I will be focusing on seniors, families and kids, backing off of weddings and newborn (though if you ask really nicely, I may reconsider 😉). I’ll be running fall mini sessions again this year, they are my absolute favorite. I’m not against shooting in the snow unless it’s below freezing, both for my cameras sake and my appendages 🤣 but I do still work out of the studio and it’s heated.
Here’s to a safe, warm and relatively sane 2022 🎉
