Two things I enjoy, the Fall season and photographing Owls. With some fall foliage in the background where this Barred Owl was perched, allowed for some nice photographs.

as the leaves begin to fall spotting owls will start to become a little easier but never not tricky due to their natural camouflage.

As we get closer to the holiday of Halloween, the sight of owls and Halloween go hand in hand. This was a photo taken back last winter, however. Great Horned Owls nest very early compared to other birds. Was fortunate enough to photograph this nest tucked away in an urban/trail environment.

Like a Robert Frost poem being put on display.

On the trail through the fall colors of the north woods. Looking back at another great year on the superior hiking trail, logging more miles of it hiked. A trip I always look forward to is backpacking this beautiful place in the fall. The cool weather, being under the canopy of yellows and reds, and spending time with even better people.

Sunrise. Sunrise to start our hike from Lake Agnes to our next camping spot on the Superior Hiking Trail. Love the early morning glow off the autumn leaves, with the crisp fall air of northern Minnesota.

Backpacking the Superior Hiking Trail in northern Minnesota, as the both the world and the leaves turn.

We hiked through many areas where the hue under the canopy was that of the fall colors. The red and yellow hues of the maples and birch trees. I love it each time we venture up to this trail.

Sunrise, along the northern section of the Superior Hiking Trail.

Nearly every Fall, except one year since 2020, we’ve hiked this notable trail. Even experiencing the beauty of the crisp fall temps and fall leaf hues.

This was taken from last year’s trip, where we did a northern section near Grand Marais.

Starry night in Madison County. One of the last few evenings to really see the Milky Way core until this next spring. Photographed near the new moon over this past weekend.

Love those quiet, near the end of the summer nights, where just the sound of crickets are the only faint sounds to be heard.

The blue hour in the Boundary Waters. There is nothing quite like the true wilderness to paddle in to it on a canoe. Unspoiled beauty has no price tag. I’m hoping to return to the BWCA again soon.

Sunrise in the beautiful and tranquil place called the Boundary Waters Canoe Area. The BWCA has always been a special place to me and it was long overdue to come back. A few days of paddling, portaging, fishing, photography, and spending time with my wife.

A still morning with the Loons in this beautiful place, with a cup of coffee, is a little bit of heaven on earth. Cherish places like this.

You never know who you share your backyard with. Barred Owls easily call suburban neighborhoods home as well. This young Barred Owl was photographed earlier this year when it first left the nest. In the month of August is a good time to see these young owls out on their own, but will soon search for their new homes to search for their own territory.
