What an amazing time to work in news. After these past 5 months, this is nice too hear!

You don’t get to see what I see - the passion KCCI’s Photojournalists bring for their stories every day. My friends go all out every day, working behind the scenes so you see the day’s most important moments - whether it’s -20° or 100°, in rain or snow. Tonight, we celebrate them as they were just awarded NPPA - National Press Photographers Association’s Station of the Year in the small market division for the 8th time in about 15 years. That’s consistent excellence. Every one of those years, our team has been led by Donna Smith, Cortney Kintzer, Glen Biermann, Bob Thomas and Spencer Vaughn. More massively talented coworkers have come and gone over the years too - but those five are the common thread in our station’s success. I’m honored to call them friends and see their talent on display every day. Congratulations on S.O.Y. #8!
