Not the best lighting, but sometimes wildlife photography is about being there at the right moment.

This image was taken about 20 minutes after sunset, when the light was already fading. With the extreme heat we’ve been experiencing, wildlife is doing everything it can to stay cool. For many animals, including white-tailed deer, that means limiting movement during the hottest parts of the day and becoming more active once temperatures begin to drop.

These two fellas were out making the most of the cooler evening hours.

Hopefully, as the temperatures cool off, I’ll get another chance to see these two in the daylight—and maybe capture them in some better light!

A few images from the set-up and "reel" I posted a few minutes ago.

I was just sitting in a bean field with no cover other than my camera tripod. I had the wind and sun in my favor. I also, almost always, use Nose Jammer Brand when photographing deer.
