Roux Photography

Roux Photography Raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, I took interest in photography when I moved abroad and have since continued the hobby back home.

I knew as much about cameras when I moved abroad as I know about politics now, which is not a lot. The shutter speed and the aperture and the c1 versus c2 settings were all gibberish to me, but the novelty of my surroundings was captivating and I wanted to see it all. I wanted to see things and examine them in their current states. I wanted to be able to relive moments and feelings. And most impor

tantly, I wanted to remember what the feral cat that pooped on my bed the first night I slept in Istanbul looked like. So as I began to want and want, I started to photograph and photograph. I took pictures of everything from buildings, to cars, to signs, to food, to the sheets on my bed, to pathetically, the trash on the ground. I wanted a vision of every morsel of this wonderful experience, so I became trigger-happy and quickly taught myself the basics of photography. Through my experience abroad, I acquired a passion for capturing the beauty and intricacies of the world around me and have continued trying to do so ever since.
