Can you imagine having to postpone your wedding, then planning your new wedding at the same time you're becoming first time homebuyers? October was a busy month for Felicia and Bryce and I'm glad I was able to celebrate their wedding with them in Sedona!

Intimate, outdoor, Sedona Arizona wedding with a sunrise adventure session at Cathedral Rock photographed by Hanna Schmidtman Photography.

Kristin and Evan are Sedona super fans! They shared their first backpacking trip together there, so many day hike adventures, their proposal, and most recently their engagement photos!

Check out more of their story (and their most adorable pup) on the blog!

"You're going to bust into flames!" I noted to Evan who had layered up: under shirt, button down, sport coat, and his REI puffy. Sure, it was a chilly for their Sedona Engagement pictures, but we still had a literal mountain to climb. The trail included 800 ft of climbing in the next three quarters of a mile. AND we needed to hustle to make up for running late. [ 354 more words ]

It's Valentine's so I'm here to share two stories of adorable surprises.

☝️ Stephanie surprised Kevin on their wedding day with a visit from this adorable because his high school mascot was a donkey! Look at his reaction! He was starstruck (I mean I was too, look at that little dude!).

✌️ Two years ago, Seth and tried to make butternut squash ravioli from scratch with no appropriate kitchen tools and a lot of wine. We didn't have a rolling pin or a pasta maker, nothing! So it took us about 6 hours for mediocre ravioli and our pasta to wine ratio was a "smidddggee" off. The next year, we didn't really make plans, but Seth snuck home early and was chopping butternut squash when I walked in the door and I handed him the recently delivered gift: a pasta maker! Better ravioli? YES. Faster preparation? YES! Freaking adorable? YES.

πŸ‘‡Whats your favorite surprise story? Share it below! Bonus points if it's extra corny and Valentine's-y!

V is for V-back weddings gowns and Valentine's!

So here is your ALMOST VERY LAST MINUTE REMINDER that everyone loves food as a Valentine's day gift (if you participate). I'm personally team living plant > flowers as a symbol of love.

What are your favorite Valentine's gifts?

I'm trying to remember the last clients who came into a session that weren't nervous to be photographed. It is a weird situation! Most people are only in front of a professional camera for a couple times in their lives: those awful elementary school photos, maybe some senior pictures, and engagement/wedding photos. However, those aren't the only life moments that you COULD be captured. Jenn and Jake took advantage of my visit to capture some memories their Colorado home before moving away.

What other moments are worth professional photography to capture forever?

It's a wintery day here, in Phoenix that means highs in the 60s and cloud cover. It'd be a perfect day to veg out under a pile of blankets and binge Netflix. That's exactly what I was looking forward after this FRIGID session in Colorado. These cuties were a dream to work with despite the single digits temps.
If you are considering a cold weather session here's a couple things that'll help:
WEAR LAYERS. It'll be great for staying warm and can help quickly change up your outfits and images.
BRING ACCESSORIES. Definitely recommend snuggly up close under a warm blanket or cozy scarf.
WARM DRINKS. Wrap up your session at a cozy coffee shop or bar for hot beverage to thaw out the fingers and warm up your bellies!

Bring your whole badass self to your session
Well Hanna what do you mean? I wasn't planning on leaving part of my body at home... HAHA. no. If you have invested in a photographer, we are going to make beautiful pictures no matter what you do. But if you want to take it to the next level and get hyped- throw in some YOU and highlight personal elements!
If you spend your weekends hiking with your pups, let's go to the mountains with your doggos. Are you a professional (or just aspiring) sommelier, bring a blanket and cheese and have a picnic and share a glass. If your weekends are spent cleaning up beautiful motorcycle or vintage car, I'm going to scream if you leave it at home!
