Many of my photos are shot in weather: clouds, rain, snow, fog, and some really bright sunlight too. Inclement weather makes the city seem elegant, powerful, and a bit mysterious. Weather ties a natural landscape to the viewer's experience...we see a landscape- and feel it too.

We go up like most to see the aspen color in the fall. Predominately it's green to yellow. For reasons I've not heard any solid reasons for they can go to orange and very seldom yellow, orange,green, and red in the same trees. This year 2024 we came across all of these colors in Southwest Colorado.

The original movie True Grit was filmed in and around Ridgeway, Ouray county, Telluride, and the Owl Creek area. This old homestead was used and meadows in Owl Creek along with many other buildings & locations. The homestead photos are this year and the Ranch Hand photos from two years ago, they were very fitting.
Almost every night we were up there we had dinner at the True Grit Cafe in Ridgeway with all of its memorabilia. The last night a guy sat next to me at the bar, Kevin and I were having are celebratory drinks & dinner watching football. I chatted with the guy for a while explained about our photography, gallery, and shots we were getting. As he left he gave me his card and said he would like a gallery in his resort. He was the owner of the Telluride Ski and Golf resort. I wish I could make that happen but it's very unlikely.

Kari Espeland is a professional photographer and owns her own photography business Yellow Umbrella Imaging. At times she has also modeled for me. Six years ago I had an idea for a shot and she would be wearing a polka dot dress in it of which she purchased. We never found the time to get that shot but she still had the dress and brought it to Ridgeway. She, Kevin Schwalbe and I were getting our aspen shots and she thought this would be a good time to put on the dress. Not your usual mountain wear but I certainly think it worked.
