Three and a half years ago I was in the process of moving to Washington D.C. I was going to volunteer as a photographer with a nonprofit that brings awareness to human trafficking and also volunteer at a local church. I was sure God was calling me there. I was in contact with the nonprofit and I had interviews set up. Three days before leaving, we got a blizzard that made me cancel the trip/interview. We made plans to reschedule in a few weeks. Well, a few weeks later I called, emailed, and texted and no response. I was honestly heartbroken. That’s when the Lord told me to do something really hard. He said it was time to give up my dreams and desires because He was going to start giving me new ones. So my dream of moving to DC, working in ministry, and becoming a photographer for a nonprofit and church were replaced with different dreams. It took me awhile to surrender to His will. Fast forward three and a half years. God did something crazy and I’m still in awe. My friends at got a job with working with for a worship and ministry night and invited me to help out with video. I was really excited and thought I would bring my camera and hopefully take a few photos. Well I then got hired to be the photographer. And do you know where the event was at?? Right outside of DC!! Only God. He gave me the desire of my heart that I now truly believe was His desire for me in the first place. Maybe it was just photographing this one event or maybe there will be more in the future. All I know is that living and serving King Jesus is never boring. His plans are far better and His timing is always perfect.
