When I decided I was going to become a bo***ir photographer in 2022, let me rephrase, HAD to become a bo***ir photographer because there was nothing else I could imagine doing from that point forward, I started researching everything I could. I remember sitting in Jackson, WY (where my current nomad adventure had taken me) and I stumbled across the Association of International Bo***ir Photographers () online. Damn, I thought. Could this be real? There’s an association for exactly what I want to do with my life, and of this caliber? These people are incredible! If only one day I can be a part of this community of such amazing bo***ir photographers. One day, I thought. I joined that night, and threw myself into every bit of education I could find. I signed up for their yearly retreat that next Fall, not even having a name of my business yet, and they welcomed me with open arms and the most amount of encouragement I could ever have imagined (and ironically, in my hometown of Boston).
Last night I was awarded the Ambassador of Excellence award through AIBP. This prestigious recognition is one of only three annual awards given by the association. I sat on my couch in tears, not being able to fully comprehend how far I have come.
The thing about being a bo***ir photographer, for me, is that my passionate runs deep. I was patient zero of my own business because of the way bo***ir affected me personally, and because of that, it truly lights my soul on fire. I am so greatful for all of the support I have received, all around, and for AIBP who encouraged me from day 1. They have completely changed me as a bo***ir photographer and as a business owner, and I’m lucky to have them in my corner.
