Save your money, don't do maternity photos....
I see so much of this. And honestly, I get it. Taking maternity photos can feel awkward, showy, uncomfortable, wasteful, extravagant, and silly. I was talking to the other day and describing why I love to do maternity photos. And ultimately, it's not about the final images. It's about helping women take time for themselves, to create a safe space and special time to make memories. To connect with the life inside them, to their own self, and to the generations before them. The photos are secondary and I'm just a bystander in the moment. I provide a gown and directions on where to put your hands, but that little smile I see when a mama feels baby move - that is what the time is for. Sure, I love sharing my art because I'm proud of women and love to celebrate. But if you don't want to flaunt your photos, that's not expected. But you know who will love your maternity pictures - your child, your grandchildren, and you in 18 years when your baby finishes high school or in 28 years when they welcome their child. Because those images will remind you of that little smile when you felt them move inside you and you were so excited to meet them.
And now I'm tearing up 😭
