8/27/26 ~96% lunar eclipse shot from Denver.

Fortunate to have had clear skies for this event! Mallory Jones and I watched the peak from our apartment complex. I noticed several people that came out to witness this event. Whispers of “wow” and “so cool” from many directions. I love how these interplanetary phenomenons seem to bring people together. Many people around the world looking up at the same event that inspired awe in us.

Did you get to see the eclipse?

A few weeks ago me and my two brothers-in-law summited our first ever 14er, Quandary Peak. It was a challenge but I was really glad I was able to make it all the way to the top.

Quandary Peak is a well known “beginner” 14er near Breckenridge, CO and for that reason it draws a lot of people. But take note this was far from a walk in the park and I was definitely feeling it in my legs for a few days after. Also just like with any high altitude hiking this peak also carries the inherent risks for altitude sickness and weather exposure.

Another first for me was that we saw some Mountain Goats on the trek down!

Would you ever do a hike up to 14,000 ft? If you have already, what was your favorite one so far?

This is one of the coolest waterfalls in Colorado!

Zapata Falls Trail is located just outside of Great Sand Dunes National Park. After a short 0.5 mi hike from the parking lot you, can wade through the creek to find this beautiful multi level waterfall.

Parking is limited and this trail is popular so you likely will not have it all to yourself.

This trail is rated moderate on all trails.

Definitely recommend water shoes or going barefoot once up at the falls but be warned the water is freezing! 🥶

For 2026 on of my goals is to edit and post more than I did last year. I kind of fell into a slump and took some time away from editing in 2025. Just because I wasn’t editing doesn’t mean I didn’t take any trips or photos. So this year I am determined to get back into a rhythm of editing and sharing my work. First up is a panorama shot of a bucket list place for me. Ever since moving to Colorado in 2023 and looking at all the places I could go this hike and lake were on my radar. And boy it didn’t disappoint. I definitely need to get back down and explore more of SW CO cause views like this are what I live for.

I wasn’t able to see the lights last night but I’ve been fortunate to see them on a few occasions. The aurora will always be such an amazing thing to witness.

Trails vs Points

These two images are from the same night. It’s amazing how much different the scene is just based on the stars. Which do you prefer?

The other day I spent some time at Rocky Mountain National Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge. As we were leaving the park I spotted this beautiful Red-tailed hawk having what I believe is a gopher snake as a meal. I probably watched this bird for a good half an hour or so before it hopped on the other side of the wall it was perched on. It was such a treat to end the morning outing.
