Driving back from exploring Kansas on Sunday evening, we passed this old abandoned farmhouse. Had to turn around and photograph it! We spent the weekend tracking down Atlas Obscura places but found many other great things to see and photograph along the way. This was on the way to check out an old train depot in Lyons, KS.

The world's largest steam locomotive, Union Pacific's Big Boy No. 4014, is on a third and final tour celebrating the 150th anniversary of the transcontinental railroad's completion. The "Big Boy" weighs over 1 million pounds and spans 133 feet. No. 4014 left the Steam Shop in Cheyenne, Wyoming, on Sept. 27 for the "Great Race Across the Southwest," making brief whistle-stops in communities along its route through Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, Nevada, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas, Utah and Wyoming. I photographed this massive locomotive as it left the depot in Salina, Kansas on 11-21-19.
