.. It’s been an amazing couple of Summer months back home in Portland, and I’m currently enjoying a super special & tender weekend with family back in Albuquerque ... and in just a couple of days, I’m stoked to be turning the sails towards Denver & Boulder again!

I’ll be in The Rockies this week (8/4–8/11) to shoot a wedding, some shows, and several Passing Through sessions already on the calendar...

It’s been such soul-filled, uplifting magic getting to connect with and photograph Watchhouse over the last 10 years. From time on the road with them & Gregory Isakov in 2015 to life changing moments at Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre just a few years back, to their most recent ‘pass through’ Portland…every one of their shows is full of love, perspective, guidance, laughter, and uplift.

Last Friday and Saturday night, they graced Portland & the Rose City’s Revolution Hall with two sold-out nights that left us overflowing with joy and stoked for their next roll through town.

..." and when my time has come, I'll follow the sun"

(The Van Morris Inn) my RV is for Sale, Rent, or up for Business ADU/BNB Colab with Homeowner friends with outside the box dreams...who's in?

I have some Summer, Fall and to who knows when work and life adventures coming up very quickly and it's time to share my RV again with someone who's always wanted to Try Rig life or Bus Living.

It's been an insanely lovely journey having my RV around and I"m very open to whatever the next chapter holds for what I like to call The Van Morris Inn.

Whether that means selling it, renting out out again for stationary living only, or partnering with a homeowner friend who wants to go in on a little ADU / BNB vibes.
I've lived in her myself as an ADU at the Cherryvale house in Boulder 2017, then rented it out for the next two years to other Rig Life lovers still on the land at Cherryvale once I moved back to Denver in 2018.

Then once the land and house at Cherryvale was sold in 2021, I brought it to be with us at the Barnum house in Denver over the last year, where it was nice to have it out back. I ended up using it as a small study, photo studio and place to be quiet as I dreamed up my next moves over this last year ... it also provided an extra room for the guest and the traveling bands we hosted.
Whether I sell her, rent her out again, or end up going in with a homeowning pal who likes to dream big ( my preferred reality 🙂 , I really do pray she goes to someone who's a dreamer and manifester too, with a strong sense and love for RV care, lifestyle and realities.

Hit me up if any of this rambling and dreaming has hit a chord. I'll be putting her on all the rental sights soon, but wanted to share this with my community first before I do.

Before we slide to far into the new year. I would love to just say one big massive thank you to those of you that chose me as their photographer in 2021 and really big thanks to everyone who's worked with me since I started this business in 2009.

I don't speak as much about my photography these days, but after nearly 13 years of running my business...I'm grateful to say I still spend the majority of my days behind my camera.

These past two years, I've enjoyed reconnecting with the roots of how I started my business by photographing families, headshots, engagements, bo***ir, real estate / bnb's, live music 'duh!!! and even a couple weddings ... with both Families and Real Estate photography being my main bread of butter of 2021.

I counted photographing nearly 40 families and over 350 houses between Denver and Portland in the last year alone. I'm also grateful for the companies that contracted me out and handle some of that back end and marketing, what a blessing.

I'm excited to step into another year of business and would love to invite you to reach out if you're in a need of a photographer for almost any reason. I've never been a niche photographer, I love shooting a variety of things, so throw me an idea for what your need is and we'll see if we can make it happen.

I'm also dreaming of handing my website, blogging and social media for my business over to some hip young pro in the new year, other then sharing a few flute & sax licks and poetic mystic life moments and ramblings, social media is not where I want to spend most of my time.

Finding love in 2020. Congrats to Stephanie and Austin on their recent Engagement.

They found each other just as the pandemic began and have been head on in love ever since. They wanted to do their engagement session at the scene where they first met, so we headed to Ruby Hill over looking Levitt Pavilion and the rest of Denver.

They plan to be married next Summer on the East Coast.

I first met Pierre when moving back to Denver after 3 years of Boulder living. He’s a brilliant friend, former roommate, acrobat, soul DJ and very sought after therapist, focused Somatic and Psychotherapy.

Pierre needed new headshots for his businesses and socials, so we took a lovely stroll around Cheeseman Park and our Capitol Hill neighborhood and got the shots he was looking for. If you’re in need of a soul hoppin’ DJ, or a therapist that loves helping people live freer and more passionate lives, he’s by far your guy!

I was beyond thrilled and honored when one of my childhood besties Dave asked if I would photograph him and his love, Tara’s elopement.

From strolling along the Boulder creek, to their intimate ceremony in front of the abstract artworks that sits just across from the St. Julien where they were staying, to Sunshine Amphitheater and all the jeep riding in between … their day was surrounded with love, laughter and all the beauty that sweet Boulder has to offer.

"Walking, walking, walking ... we made it halfway across the USA? Do I have what it takes to walk over the Rockies & through the high deserts of Utah and Nevada? Who will I meet? What will I see? How will the stars feel?

Sunrises & sunsets that left me laying flat on my back in the middle of an inspiring, haunting highway. Will I make it to the Pacific? Will I get past the Sierra Nevada’s before the first snow? How will I ever “go back” to life as it was before walking with the land in this way?" Jonathon Stalls!

Awe man was I fortunate to finally go on a walk with my longtime brother and inspiration Jonathon Stalls! No I didn't walk with him from SF to NYC, but maybe one day.

He was yet another friend/client, that I'm grateful was able to get in a photo sesh with me before things turned upside down in our world. We shared a socially distant stroll around City Park, and then we walked along Colorado Boulevard where he opened my eyes to the pedestrian dignity he fights so hard for as he showed me the sidewalk injustices that happen on all around our cities.

Since the day I met him nearly a decade ago through his organization Walk2Connect, I've been insanely inspired by Jonathon and his love for human dignity, world healing and outside the lines type of artistry.

Take a minute to get to know Jonathan! In a dark and often times confusing world, he's one who stands bright and offers major hope for a better life and peaceful universe!

What a wild ride we are on. How is everyone holding up?

I'm insanely grateful for the saving grace of those few that were able to get in for a photo sesh with me a couple weeks ago before complete lockdown set in! Those shoots + the support of loved ones have literally floated me as I sift through pages of CaresAct forms, learning where I fit with in the support offered.

I'll be sharing moments from these sessions as their shoots continue to get processed.

First up, my dear friend Anna Cirenza! We've been talking about a photo sesh for years now...finally in the midst of all the strange, the time was right.

Here's a few of her powerful words after receiving the photos. We spent our time shooting a blend between Environmental Lifestyle, Headshots & Bo***ir.

*** "I feel self-conscious about my body and the way I look everyday. It's really hard to look in the mirror and accept all the things that don't match up to our inner selves or expectations. So I asked my friend Art to take some photos of me in my home as an effort to own my confidence and accept myself more!" ***

You're not alone, Anna ... we all fight what we perceive as our flaws, thanks for taking a minute to overcome those fears as you embrace your confidence and beauty ever so powerfully! You're the best!
