Probably one of the most soul-crushing things imaginable is when someone you love tells you that you should quit.

What’s worse is that they usually mean well—they don’t want you to suffer. To hurt. To struggle.

And don’t get me wrong, building something you care about is absolutely a struggle.

But you cannot let someone project their insecurities on to you.

You were never meant to carry that.

You aren’t here to make someone happy.
You aren’t here to make someone comfortable.

You’re here to write your own story.

Don’t let them take that away from you.

This shoot with was so rejuvenating. Trying to think through light, color, composition in all new ways. Trying to rethink portraiture and what it can mean to give life and essence to a brand. Excited for what the future will contain and about getting the chance to keep creating new things.

I've really tried to put words to my work lately. Intention is a huge part of that, but it's only scratching the surface. Today, the podcast I did with ARC is live! You can check it out (link in profile) and hear me talking about my story and a bit about my topic: "The Violence of Intention." (And that's a very selective word choice, coming from a pacifist and all).
