**ANNOUNCEMENT**

January 10, 2021 I started my business. Three years later, the dream of being a business owner is my reality, and a dream come true. I have met some incredible people on this journey in all different stages of life, which is the coolest part of this job. I have loved every moment of being a birth worker, despite the hardships that can come with this demanding career.

After much consideration for my clients, my family, and myself, I find it time to *temporarily* close the birth side of my business. This was a very difficult decision, but something I need to do for the time being. I have one more client in February, which I am SO excited to end with them. After that, I am focusing on the other side of my business, the parenthood side. Maternity, newborn, family, first year sessions, and more. This year I am offering so many different and exciting things for my clients, that I really want to give my full attention to those folks, and come back to birth when my family is ready for that. (repeat clients - still reach out!)

Birth is beautiful, emotional, exciting, and hard all at the same time. It is always an honor to be welcomed into that incredibly sacred space, which is something I do not take lightly. That's truly what brought me to this decision, and again, it is temporary! I could never stay away from the birth world entirely, it is just impossible!

With all that said, I want to say THANK YOU. Thank you to everyone who has supported me on this journey. Thank you to my clients who have trusted me to be in this birth space with you. Thank you to my family for letting me attend these life changing moments on a whim for these families. Thank you all SO much. I will be back! Don't you fret.

Did you know that you can still have golden hour if you have a cesarean birth?

As long as baby, and Mom are doing well, this is an option for you! Having skin to skin, first latch, and holding your baby while they complete the surgery can be your reality.

For this family, their birth journey was a WILD ride, and full of surprises. Despite the journey, they were still able to have these moments together in the OR instead of waiting until after. With the unconditional support and love from their partner, this was a moment they will never forget meeting their daughter.

Dear Bottle Feeding Mama/Parent:

I see you.

I see you making bottles for your baby at all hours of the day and night.

I see you researching and making the best decision on what to feed your baby.

I see you mourning the loss of your feeding journey that you may have hoped for.

I see the struggles with guilt related to bottle feeding, eating you internally.

I see YOU, Mama. I hear you.

No matter the reason you are bottle feeding your baby, you are an amazing parent. This stage in parenthood does NOT define you or your child. Making this decision, or having this decision made for you is HARD, but I see you doing your best.

Last week was one that might be triggering to see/hard to hear when your journey did not go as planned. Your feelings are valid. You deserve to be celebrated too.

I see you, doing the best you can for your little one(s). You are a phenomenal parent with all you do and all that you have sacrificed.

✨ AVAILABILTY UPDATE ✨

How are we already over half way through 2023?! Gosh what a busy, beautiful year it has been already. This year has proven to be more challenging to run a business with a baby at home. I am staying at home with my daughter full time while running this business which is truly a gift to have this time with her. With that in mind, I have decided to not offer birth photography, or doula services for the remainder of the year. I will focus on the other side of my business (check out my page if you haven't already - ) for the rest of 2023, and offer birth services again in 2024.

HAPPY FATHER’s DAY!

To anyone who chooses to celebrate this day because of the role they are in someone’s life. Being a Father/Dad/Guardian can look many different ways and today we celebrate the impact you have made on our lives. In this job, I get to celebrate SO many Dads and watch them step into their role of fatherhood. Some Dad’s even graduate to grandfather’s another very important role.

Here are a few Dad’s that I have had the honor of witnessing the exact moment they welcomed a new life. Scroll to the end and you will see a photo of MY Dad holding me, who is now a grandfather! And you will see my loving partner, Alex who we are celebrating today as well. I’m so lucky to have an incredible partner who’s been a loving father to our baby girl.

However you choose to celebrate this day, I hope you feel the love and support from those around you. Being a dad/parent is no small task, and taking an extra day a year to celebrate the wonderful things you do for your family is just not enough. Thank you for all you do 🩵

☀️SEVEN YEARS AGO ☀️

Seven years ago on this day, my life changed forever. Watching the miracle of childbirth opened my eyes to a career that I never imagined possible. A gift that truly keeps on giving.

Seven years ago my photography teacher asked if I would be willing to photograph the birth of her daughter. A moment she waited for, for so long. This was something I was not sure about but open to try it out. I had been in the birth space before for Fresh 48’s and immediately after the birth, but never the actual birth. Never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined that this would be my career path.

Seven years later, I am a certified professional doula, a certified birth photographer, and have attended 20+ births in all varieties, AND given birth myself. Hospital birth, home birth, birth center birth, cesarean birth, surrogacy birth… what an honor to be a part of this journey for so many.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 KIDS AT BIRTHS 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

A subject I LOVE chatting about with my home birth family’s.

When we sit down to talk about who you envision at your birth, parents with older kids can be wishy washy about the kiddos being present. Either they are “hell yes” or “heck no”. But the best part about home birth is that, the kids can choose to be present or not for the birth, while in the comfort of their own home. Having a or someone there to tend to the kids while you and your partner navigate labor land is a great way to help have a positive birth experience with a family centered

Preparing your kids for the birth and what it can look like is very important to help them understand the process. Watching birth films, reading books, having them meet the midwives, and be a part of your pregnancy care are all ways to help the big siblings understand these life changes.

This sweet family did exactly this. Through all the prenatal appointments they were there, the amazing () were so kind and supportive to the big kids. They talked big brother through the procedures Mom & baby needed throughout the whole process. And big brother even cut the cord! Big sister just wanted the baby snuggles. For Mom, having these babies home and present for the birth was so important to her. She also understood that the kids can be present if they want to be, and not force them! As you can see, big brother was a proud lil dude to be a part of this process. I think he might even be a future midwife?!

(Full disclosure- this is not for everyone and that is OKAY! You have the right to birth however, with who ever, and wherever you choose. Make the choice that is best for you and your baby. You have that power!)

Last night I photographed my first birth since Rosie arrived…. And it felt SO good. It reminded me why I chose this line of work and how precious life truly is. The adrenaline rush of running out the door, the excitement of watching a new life come into the world, the emotion the parents feel holding their baby in their arms after so long…. It was perfect in every way.

I am so excited for the coming months as I begin to attend more births and support the amazing pregnant mama/folks & family’s welcoming a new family member into their life. Every time is so unique and no two birth stories are ever the same. That’s what I LOVE about this career so much. The reminder of how precious and surprising life can really be.

I can’t wait to share photos from this birth, and the births to come in the next few months. 🩵

What was your favorite part about your birth?

There are so many parts that make up a birth story full of moments that we never forget. For this particular birth story, I loved watching the older siblings. The sister was so excited to hold her new brother and love on him. Big brother was so fascinated by the midwives doing their job and wanted to be a part of every step! The amazing midwives let brother do as much as possible, from watching them stitch Mama up, to cutting the cord, and helping with the newborn exam. It was so so sweet.

Today is International day of the Midwife and I just had to get on here and shout out this amazing midwife.

Through my journey as a doula, I have worked with incredible providers, most of them being midwives surprisingly! Watching them in the zone providing care whether it’s at home, the birth center or hospital, is so beautiful. The way they support you, they provide care and wisdom, but also know how to read the room and act on that instinct is just… wow.

That’s exactly what my midwife, Sophie did for the birth of Rosie. She was there when I needed her, and gave me space when I needed it. Her presence was so calming, strong, and warm. Just what you need in the heat of birth. She was just the source of energy I needed in my birth.

I am so in awe of the amazing things our midwives do. Truly, the world is a better place with these sweet souls who support pregnant folks to meet their babies.

If you know a midwife, buy them a cup of coffee. Or 12. They deserve it 💕

Where was your favorite place to labor?

The bathroom is full of relaxing places to let labor take its course. The shower, bath tub and toilet are all places where we allow our bodies to just be and completely let go. Especially the toilet, if you know what I mean 😉

The more you surrender to this process, let go of all your thoughts and expectations, the deeper your body dives into labor land. It really is a mind game, possibly one of the biggest mind games you’ll ever experience.
