Some might say that the summer of 2020 was one of the worst of their lives for obvious reasons. Minimal social interaction, bars and restaurants being closed, travel bans and a quarantine that almost felt like it would never end.
For me however, this summer was one of personal growth, introspection and outdoor recreation! I made and lost new friends, rekindled old friendships and spent a lot of time getting to know myself better. In fact, I realized that I’m much more of an introvert then I ever considered myself to be. I honed in perspectives that I was afraid to show and became one of the most honest and best versions of myself.
I’m grateful that we as a whole were able to experience something like this together. Although there have been many peaks and valleys emotionally, politically, socially and empathetically. I believe those of us that took the time to look within and become unified are in a much better place.
I’m happy to have the people around me that I love, that I call my family, whether bonded by blood or by friendship. I appreciate where I am and look forward to where we will be when the dust settles.
Remember to be grateful and present in the times we have because you never know what’s around the corner.

It’s easy to forget about the things that make you happy, that truly make you feel whole when the world around you feels like it’s caving in
Turn off the tv, mute the radio and put your smart phone on airplane mode. Stay current on the topics that surround our daily lives but remember, it is just as important to let go and find solace in solitude

Spending a lot of my time outdoors has been really healing during this current state of affairs. Exploring new places with my hound (Nanüq) has brought me back to the days when we lived in our van. Like modern day gypsies we roamed the states.
With a fresh set of eyes and a new perspective in our hearts we’ve been exploring the front range, just the two of us...like the old days. I can honestly say that I’m grateful for this time when everyone else feels like life has stopped, we feel like everything is right where it should be...like it always has been.
