The forecast said forty percent chance of storms. We went anyway.

Anyone who has lived here long enough knows a Colorado forecast is a rumor. Half the time that system slides north, the clouds break around 6:40, and you get fifteen minutes of light so good you forget to breathe.

The other half of the time it rains on us and we reschedule. Sometimes you call the clouds bluff, sometimes they call yours.

Again, you don't need anything special to have the maternity photos of your dreams. Sometimes its the one underwear set ...

Pregnancy gets talked about as a pause. Something to get through.

I have photographed runners at 33 weeks, climbers, boxers, women who were told to slow down and did not. What I saw in front of the camera was not a pause. It was a body doing the most demanding thing it will ever do, and doing it while still showing up.

You do not have to be an athlete for this to apply to you. Growing a person is already the hardest work in the room.

That is what I am trying to put on your wall.

Studio or outdoor in October? How to decide is all in the details 👇

Outdoor gives you color, scale, that sense of time, and a bit of chill in the air. Fall sunsets in Colorado come fast, and they come cold.

Studio gives you sculpted light, five backdrops, crafted looks, privacy, and a level of detail you can't find anywhere else.

My preference in late fall is outdoor, and I will say that out loud. Not because studio is worse, but because fall in Colorado is something special 🍂
