One reason I enjoy photographing Snowy Egrets is their unpredictability. A bird that appears completely relaxed can suddenly launch into a territorial display, chase a rival from a feeding area, or make a lightning-fast strike at prey. Patience is rewarded because the behavior can change in a heartbeat.

Mountain goat kids bring plenty of personality to the alpine landscape. Some pause long enough for a portrait, while others spend their time chasing, jumping, and testing their climbing skills on the rocky slopes. It’s amazing to watch these young goats already so comfortable in such rugged terrain.
