Looking forward to support more artists and their shows with previews like this!

Let's take a look at an exhibition called KIDZ! on view at Harvester Arts through March 27th in downtown Wichita.

Exhibition Description:
KIDZ!, organized by Serena Salerno, is a group show about what we carry from childhood into adult life. Friends and family contribute work reflecting early memories, habits, and ways of seeing that continue to shape them. Salerno also presents sketchbooks and paintings tracing a line from her childhood to her current practice — evolving over time but rooted in the same early curiosities. The show suggests that people don’t fully transform as they grow up; we remain versions of who we were as kids.

Artists: Serena Salerno, Gino Salerno, Marsha Salerno, Marco Salerno, Martina Sanchez, Abi Herrera.

Hola mi gente - this is the first time I've tried something like this, but would love to celebrate this upcoming Hispanic Heritage Month by helping gather our stories, our art, our dancing, our everything and anything that represents us Latinos y hispanos. If you're interested in sharing something around latino or hispanic culture, feel free to shoot me a message or email me at [email protected].
¡Gracias a todos ustedes!

Catch me over the weekend shooting the progress photos for Avenue Art Days in the Douglas Design District! Super excited to see these works put up across this part of the city!

Photo was taken in 2019 with my good friend Kim Pham during that year's event.

Slap tagged wall in the RiNo District in Denver.
This mode of street art and promotion in some cases has existed throughout at least since the late 80's or early 90's. Originally slap taggers would use postal service labels, particularly Label 228 where they would draw their art on the label and place stickers across the city. While there are a still plenty of artists who still do that, the ability to print stickers has made the practice widely accessible and the community of taggers has grown exponentially.

Do it for the gram
Thinking about the time I spent in Vegas in 2019 pre-pandemic and how this trip was a challenge to how I chose to shoot and even what I would shoot. While not my usual scene, it was fun to catch the candids from the locals and tourists alike.

Speak it plain 🎙

This is Charles Edgar, one of the artists that performed alongside Rudy Love Jr and Friends at Wave during an amazing sold out show Snoop Dogg Vs. DJ Snoopadelic on July 7th 2021. It was amazing to be a witness to the culture and to help capture these moments. More to come!

📸Otra mas para la cultura📸

I had volunteered through the Young Latino Professionals of Wichita and Bike Walk Wichita at Evergreen Park Recreation Center earlier this summer for a slow roll and urban hike on the North End of Wichita near Nomar. While there, a few folks rode in on a set of lowrider bikes that they built on their own and I had to capture their artistry.

While I'm still murky on the history, you can trace the origins of lowrider bikes back to Compton and LA during the 80's in large part to the influence of rap and hip-hop, even more particularly to a man named Manny Silva in his shop. The culture was extremely influence by chicano culture through guys like photographer Estavan Oriol and artist Mister Cartoon and many others on their come-ups.
