Always a treat landing in the desert of Moab for .events! I am roughly 2 years pregnant so I passed the running baton off to my sister who has very much excelled at the sport this year now that she’s a Colorado local, beating my past time by a solid 15 minutes. Maybe it’s her coach , maybe it’s her 9 years of youth she has on me, or maybe more likely it’s the fact that she gets up every single day before the sun and runs all over South Table. Either way, proud! Also watched Chris finish 3rd in the 50k but who’s surprised there? He’s been getting up before the sun for years now - that must be the ticket.

The night is dark and full of terrors - really the only thing I can say when the sun is setting on day 1 of a 100 miler. Lucky for this crew, finished in 20:17 which means sleep is a thing. I recognize how fortunate and rare that is (especially because it took me 34 hours to finish one 😂) - I just like to emphasize this because it really shows how amazing Chris is and how much he trains for these things.

This year, there was no crewing or pacing from the infamous 50 mile turn around at Winfield. I didn’t run the thing but I’d say that was another challenge factor. Having to leave Twin Lakes knowing that you have a double Hope Pass crossing before grabbing a pacer - feels like a downer to me. These photos are from Outward Bound and Twin Lakes, in and out - we had one more aid stop after the sun set. Chris was lucky enough to have 3 wonderful pacers lined up for the evening - huge thanks to and . It’s as reassuring to me as crew (and wife) to have someone out there as it is relieving for him to have company for the hardest parts.

What a weekend. At 4 am on Saturday morning, around 700 runners lined up to start the 100 mile journey from Leadville to Winfield and back. This race is notorious for so many reasons, one being the high altitude throughout and the second being the hard cut offs and the 30 hour course limit. Less than 50% of the runners finish this run every year but over and over, this race fills up. They keep showing up - whether it’s the atmosphere or the shiny buckle, there’s just something special about LT100. finally got his lottery ticket this year and the stoke was very high for months leading up to this day. I was equally as excited to crew and cheer him on because I saw first hand how much hard work and dedication went into prepping for it. Regardless, it must be noted - running 100 miles is dumb.
