She wasn't supposed to see this one yet. I'd just taken the canvas out to check the color in the light, and she grabbed it before I could stop her, she couldn't stop staring at her own face next to the hand cradling it.

I've been pretty quiet on here lately, and I don't want that to read as "things must not be going well." Actually, the opposite — I've just been doubling down on some content creation without posting about it.

The visible part: I rebuilt my own website from the ground up. Not because the old one was broken, but because it didn't feel like J Witt Photography anymore, if that makes sense. I wanted it to actually feel like the experience I want you to have, not just a place to scroll through pretty pictures.

The bigger part happened behind that — I've spent a lot of time thinking through what a session with me should actually feel like, and what you should walk away with. That's led to some real changes I'm excited to show you.

There is something different about holding a photograph in your hands.

We spend so much time capturing memories, but too often they end up tucked away on a hard drive or buried thousands of photos deep on a phone. Months turn into years, and those moments are rarely seen again.

Photographs were never meant to live in computers...

They were meant to be held, framed, and eventually passed down to future generations.

Seeing this sweet mama hold her portrait reminded me why I do what I do. Even though life has been busy and it hasn't made it onto her wall just yet, it's already something real—something she can hold, share, and treasure.

My goal isn't simply to take beautiful pictures. It's to help families preserve the moments that matter most in a way they'll enjoy every single day.
