If you've been thinking, "we really need to get family pictures done," this is your sign.

Every year the weather starts to show a few signs of changing and I ITCH to get out to my favorite location. This year the yellow popped up early and I don't think anyone's going to complain.

There is just something about this time of year—the cooler air, the golden light, kids running through the leaves. Little reminders that these seasons of childhood doesn't stick around nearly as long as we'd like them to.

This is why I love family sessions.

Not because I need another pretty picture for my portfolio (not going to lie- it's a plus).

Because your kids are changing, your family is changing (I mean, look at the oldest, he was the size of the youngest when I met him a few short years ago), and someday, you're going to look at these photographs and realize just how much of this ordinary, beautiful season you would have forgotten.

Come enjoy an evening with your people and your favorite photographer, let me worry about getting everyone looking good, and leave with portraits you'll actually want to see hanging in your home.

I know it's easy to think the newborn photographs should be all about the baby.
Those tiny fingers and even tinier nails that terrify you to trim.
Those sweet lips that purse and have you fawning over every yawn.
Those perfect little rolls. The ones you get when they're all curled up on your chest.

Yes, we'll absolutely photograph all of that.

But I want to photograph the way your baby fits against your chest.
The way you look at them.
The way they settle into you.
Because years from now, you won't just want to remember what your baby looked like. You'll want to be transported back to what it felt like for them to curl up on your chest. How it felt to wrap their finger around yours.

From one mama to another- this has been a hard week for parenting. Not because of any one event, or anything particularly hard. Nothing is catastrophically wrong, I'm just meh. It's just been hard. So I've just hurt my own feelings enough writing this caption and remembering when my girls were babies.

I'm going to put myself to bed with a cup of tea and a book. Night ya'll!

Behind every photograph is a person who cares deeply about the experience.

That’s me- hiii!

I’m the photographer, the planner, the one obsessing over the details, coordinating a hair and makeup team, the lady helping you decide what to wear, the one designing and installing your artwork, wrangling kids, scouting the best light, and the one who gets ridiculously excited when you see your images for the first time, second, and 10th time. Literally. I love seeing the pictures over and over again.

I don’t just want to take beautiful photographs of your family.

I want you to walk away feeling like you were taken care of, felt beautiful, and have these precious memories preserved. .

Because I believe you deserve it all.

You'll hear me say that some of my favorite pictures aren't even when everyone is looking at the camera. When the family is just happily existing together, and that little piece of time is caught matters- so much.

One of my favorite parts of every family session though happens after the camera is put away. The real joy happens then. The joy that matters.

The joy of seeing the connection of your little family together.

The joy in remembering how well they fit in your lap or in your arms.

The joy of seeing your babies on the wall every day.

The joy your babies feel, knowing mom and dad are proud of them and want to see them on the walls every day.

The joy in knowing this chapter of your story is safe. It's photographed. It's something you can pass down for years to come.

My website has told you for years that as long as there's joy, I've done my job.

Do my assistant and I also act like it's the first time I've ever gotten a smile during a session each time I get one?
