What's the story behind FlashMePhotography?
I realize that after all these years I have yet to post my story; who I am, why I'm here, and what this is all for, so here goes nothing.
For those of you that don't know me yet, I'm Brooklyn, the face behind FlashMePhotography! By day I'm a social worker currently pursuing my master's degree, and by night I'm a girl who loves taking photos... of everything.
My love for photography started when I was a pre-teen, thanks to a photography club at my school run by my band teacher. 🥹 I got the privilege to take photos at school events, games, and around the classroom! I learned the basics, and fell immediately in love with the art form.
My parents blessed me with my first camera, an old family camera that I used to photograph family/friends, nature, and all of the family pets! As my love for photography started to grow, my parents upgraded me to a camera I could call my own! I took it with me to every family event; I photographed every Christmas, every birthday, and every milestone in between.
When I started college, I realized something: I want to share my work with more than just my family. I want to meet new people, and be able to capture their most special moments. With that realization... FlashMePhotography was born.
Photography is so special to me, it has allowed me to be creative, appreciate the things most people don't notice, and has allowed me to capture some of life's most valuable moments. 🤍
I decided I wanted to run a business that promoted the following ideas:
-People are beautiful AS THEY ARE. I do minimal editing to the subjects of my photos, as I believe the beautiful way you are captured is the way you should be presented.
-EVERY MOMENT MATTERS. Kiddos first birthday, family photos, a branding session, or just some photos to make you feel good, there's always a good time to get photos done!
-Photography should be ACCESSIBLE. I try my best to allow my work to be accessible to people from all different backgrounds. No matter who you are, I have something that is right for you.
-Photography should be AUTHENTIC. While I will *always* help you pose, I love to sneak in as many candid moments as I can, those always make for the best shots.
-ALL are welcome here. To go along with my statements about accessibility and authenticity, you will always be allowed to be yourself. I want those that I work with to feel comfortable AS THEY ARE! You deserve a space to feel like you. I am always down for a "crazy" or "different" idea, I will always hype you up, and you will be celebrated for the person you are.
To close this off, I believe this dream of mine was created to celebrate that little girl who joined a club not knowing what she could possibly be good at, but knowing she would try her best to find out. To those that have supported my dreams, I cannot thank you enough! You have allowed me a space to be myself and create, and that is a privilege I do not take for granted.
If you made it this far, I hope this has left you feeling inspired, loved, and supported! ❤️ Keep being awesome.
