Time to cull and edit 2700 pictures from the Oxford House Convention! This calls for some matcha! I stopped by our local and new coffee shop here in town. I snapped some pictures of their cute shop too and will share those later šŸ™‚

This interview was the first to make me tear up! Thank you Samantha for being vulnerable with us with part of your story. I've been eager to get this one edited and rolled out.

If you or someone you know is struggling with addiction and wants help dial 211.

Portraits from my passion project, ā€œA New Creationā€: a story and portrait series highlighting the many walks of life who have overcome tremendous things and are now truly ā€œNew Creations.ā€

This part of the series is focused on shining a light on those who have overcome addiction, with the hope of encouraging anyone who is currently struggling. It’s also for the general public in order to help break the stigma surrounding addiction and recovery.

My 5th guest was Sam, a kind woman with an infectious smile that actually mentored me when I lived in Oxford House and needed some help with the house I was a resident at. Her interview is one you do not want to miss and the 1st that made me tear up! She along with her friend both were interviewed this day. I got some cute friendship pictures of them ā¤

Here’s what she would like to share alongside her story:

"I don’t share my story because it’s easy... I share it because I remember what it felt like to sit in the dark and believe I was the only one. If my words can reach even one person in that same place and remind them they’re not alone, then it’s worth it. I hope my story shows that recovery isn’t about being perfect, it’s about showing up, falling down, getting back up, and choosing yourself again and again. I hope it gives someone the courage to ask for help, to stay one more day, to believe that their life can look different than it does right now. And maybe, just maybe, it helps break the silence that keeps so many people stuck. Because if my mess can become a message, then there’s purpose in every step it took to get me here."

S/O to Derrick Olson for catching a picture of me in action! As a photographer we don’t always get our picture taken so it’s nice when someone does. I did not get any pictures of me all dolled up for the banquet this evening and was too locked in to take any of myself. I am super tired! Just have the morning session left tomorrow and then it’s headed back home. I can’t wait to go through and see what all I’ve captured.

Also I’m pretty sure I’ve gained some muscle this weekend. My 85mm lens with my flash was HEAVY. šŸ’ŖšŸ½

Day 1 successful for the Texas State Convention for Oxford House. It’s been so lovely seeing familiar faces and remembering what Oxford House did for my life. I would not be a person of integrity much less running my own business without the principles I learned. Truly so blessed to be able to use my craft to photograph this event.

Anyways, Obligatory millennial duck face and now it’s time for bed. ✨

My 6th guest was Jessica, a courageous woman who has gone through some incredibly hard things but made it out on the other side. She recently accomplished obtaining a new car so you know we had to include it in her session ;)

Stay tuned for her interview!

Here’s what she would like to share alongside her portraits:

" I hope that by sharing it, I can reach even just one woman who feels the way I once did: scared, ashamed, guilty, alone, forgotten, empty.

I want her to see that there is hope. That there is a completely different side to life waiting for her.

I started my journey with nothing more than a suitcase of clothes. Today, I have a support system I once could have only dreamed of. I have the career I always wanted, a beautiful home, and a life filled with meaning.

I am no longer the girl who felt like there was no end in sight. I am a woman who finds light even on the hardest days. I show up for myself. I show up for others. I set boundaries. And through that, the growth I’ve experienced has been nothing short of breathtaking.

Sometimes, it’s still hard for me to grasp how far I’ve come, because I never imagined this life for myself. And the truth is, there’s still so much more ahead.

So don’t be afraid to take the leap. Don’t be afraid to ask for help.

Life can be so good. "

I just wanted to share something exciting with you all. I forget sometimes that I can share more to this page other than just posting pictures. So, as you all know I have been working on a passion project called "New Creation" for the last couple months. Doing this has not only been so fulfilling but has also opened the door to shooting a 3 day event this weekend for Oxford House.

Oxford House is a cost-effective, self-run, and self-supporting sober living environment for people recovering from drug and alcohol addiction. So to be invited to photograph their state convention this weekend is such a HUGE honor. I am both excited and nervous. šŸ™

Such a charming little spot, with seriously delicious sandwiches. Safe to say I’ve found my new favorite place to eat in town šŸ¤

De Leon Easter Egg Hunt 🐣🌸

The chilly, overcast weather didn’t stop our little community from coming together for some Easter fun! And wow, there were so many eggs… some very well hidden, too (I spotted a few tricky ones while walking around šŸ‘€).

It was so sweet seeing smiling families and kiddos with baskets filled to the brim, some even holding special prize eggs! Moments like these are what make small-town events so special.

Thank you to all the families who let me capture a few memories for you šŸ¤

Wishing everyone a blessed rest of your day!
