Well that escalated quickly.

Tropical Storm Edouard is forecast to strengthen, potentially approaching hurricane strength, before making landfall early Tuesday afternoon along the Upper Texas and southwestern Louisiana coasts, bringing heavy rain, flash flooding and life-threatening storm surge to the region.

Well here it is. I finally got decent pics of the Milky Way. Unfortunately on the best night Wednesday night it was way too cloudy to get anything but Thursday while there were still some clouds I was able to get several series of shots and stack them. Here is the first. I'm glad there is a tool out there like Sequator to stack the images and come up with a much improved view of the stars. In case you are not aware this is not how it looks when viewing it. Much like many people have found they can capture Northern Lights on their cell phones that they don't see or barely see the process of stacking multiple images - up to 44 in one instance - brings out clarity and definition that is not possible in a single shot. In addition to that each picture can take up to 30 seconds to expose a single shot. It takes work especially in the bug infested humidity and heat of the Everglades. Even with all of that I was still a little too close to Naples and got some of their light pollution in some of the shots. I learned a lot from this shoot and look forward to selecting an even better location the next time. More to come.
