Tonight’s post is not photography related, but it is a reminder to support your creative friends and loved ones!

My pal Rachel of Rachel Dawson Designs will be vending at Orchid Fest at Emmanuel Lutheran Church (4865 Wilmington Pike in Dayton) on Sunday, 8/23, from 12-3 pm. She makes beautiful pottery that doubles as luminaries. Go see her, and tell her KG sent ya!

I didn’t get any orchids because I always kill them, but they sure are beautiful to look at!

Photographing your friends, especially on their wedding day, is a high-pressure experience. Thankfully, all of my friends are drop dead gorgeous and insanely photogenic which eases some of that pressure.

There was a little bit of a rush before Rachel and Dave’s ceremony but when I saw her for the first time, I had her pause where she was standing in the hallway because the light at that moment was 🤌🏻

Dave followed all of my weird instructions like a champ. “Put your chin down just a little - wait, no, back up a little - relax those shoulders - now strut towards me - not too much of a strut, it’s not Saturday Night Fever - don’t forget to move your arms - look at me, look up, look down!” Needless to say, he understood the assignment.

Here’s to Rachel and Dave - cheers to your happily ever after 🫶🏻

Doug and Shelly’s wedding was extra special because I grew up across the road from Doug’s parents and have known the family nearly all my life - ask his nephews where they hid their little sister while I was babysitting (they put her in the dryer and yes, she is totally fine 🤣)

The last image is from a quick visit to see Doug’s mother at the nursing home…that is her rosary and the rose came from Shelly’s bouquet. The visit was brief but it was a beautiful moment that I will never forget.
