Some sessions hold both laughter and ache at the same time.

The giggles on the floor. The movement. The chaos. The comfort of a fur family member resting nearby.

The kind of moments that might not be seem “perfect” while they’re happening, but years from now will feel like everything.

Because family photos were never meant to be about perfect light or perfectly styled spaces. They’re about connection. Presence. Love in its realest form.

What kind of photos do you think matter most?

Some sessions feel like stepping into a time capsule. 🚀🐢

A turtle that once belonged to mom, now lovingly passed down as part of the family story. Kids running barefoot through the yard. A rocket launch lighting up the sky while everyone stood together in the front yard watching in awe.

The kind of memories that don’t seem big in the moment… until years later when they become the stories everyone tells over and over again.

This is why I photograph families the way I do. Not just the smiles for the camera, but the little pieces of home, history, and wonder that make your family yours. ✨

What’s something beautifully ordinary in your family right now that you never want to forget? 💛

❗️I have a confession... questionnaires used to just be a place for me to learn names and check boxes.

Now? They’re where the magic actually begins.

They help me understand your family’s story so I can guide you—choosing a location that feels true to you and planning an activity you already love, whether that’s quiet moments, high-energy play, or something in between.

Before we even meet, I’m learning your kids’ personalities, your rhythms, and what helps everyone feel comfortable and seen—so you don’t have to worry about what to do or how it will go.

When session day comes, you can just show up and be together. I’ll meet you right where you are and gently guide the rest.

Sounds amazing? I’m booking now for signature sessions. Mailing list subscribers- be on the look out for a special coming out soon. 😉

Today, on Earth Day, I’m thinking about the small, quiet moments that root a family to this world—the way little hands pick dandelions, the way laughter carries through open air, the way we slow down just enough to notice the beauty around us.

They are a reminder of what we’re raising our children to love, to protect, and to care for—this wide, beautiful world they get to call home. 🌎✨

Family photography has shifted in such a beautiful way over the years.
Less perfection.
More connection.
More real life.

The trends I’m loving most right now focus on the moments that actually define family life — movement, meaningful locations, storytelling, and embracing the beautifully messy parts of parenthood.

Because those are the memories families hold onto.

I’m curious… which of these trends are you loving or noticing too?

Or is there one you’d want for your own family photos?

My spring and summer signature session calendar is already beginning to fill, and I’d love to help document your family’s story.

Plot twist: the wildflowers didn’t show up. 🌼😅

One summer I offered wildflower mini sessions. I had scouted the location and it was perfect — fields of blooms and dreamy morning light.

But when I checked it again a few days before the sessions? The Maryland summer heat had other plans.

The wildflowers were basically fried.

And I had families coming from all over.

So I pivoted. I found a small patch (more like 5 flowers) that survived😅, embraced the light, and guided everyone into moments that felt natural and connected.

It was about the moment when everyone piled together in one big cuddle — like the joyful chaos of “everyone onto the couch!” Arms wrapped around each other, kids climbing, parents laughing, everyone squeezed close.

Because the photos that matter most feel like your family.

Not about the backdrop — about the connection.

That’s exactly why my Signature Sessions are designed the way they are — more time, flexibility with locations, and space for your family to simply be yourselves. ✨

Looking back- I might have had it wrong or maybe was right all along. When I first started my business, a second location was considered an “add-on.”

But the truth is… I’ve always wanted more room for real life to unfold.

More time for kids to warm up.
More movement.
More moments that feel like your family being your family.

At .photo ‘s retreat earlier this month, almost every session included two meaningful spots — and the storytelling felt deeper, more alive.

I realized why I gravitated towards those two location sessions or sessions that began in a backyard and ended in-home.

Maybe we start at home… then head somewhere fun like the snowball stand.
Two places. One real story of your family.

Because the best photos usually happen in between the places that mean something to you. 💛Comment if you agree!!

There was a homemade trolley rolling through the house, a Daniel Tiger stuffy never too far away, books being read (and reread), and a big sister who simply could not stop moving. And honestly? It felt perfect.

As a parent myself, I’ve learned so many of life’s lessons right alongside my kids—often thanks to Daniel Tiger. How to take a deep breath. How to be kind. How to wait (even when it’s hard). And somehow, those lessons always come wrapped in a little song that sticks with you long after the episode ends.

Watching this sweet girl step into her role as a big sister reminded me so much of that season of parenting: when everything is new, emotions are big, and growth is happening in real time. Her trolley zoomed, her stories unfolded, and her world expanded—just enough to make room for someone new.

New life sessions don’t have to be quiet or still. Sometimes they sound like humming tunes, turning pages, tiny footsteps moving nonstop, and love learning how to stretch. This is what growing families look like. Real, tender, playful—and always a little bit to a tune. 💛
