can I be really honest for a second?🤪

I love seeing new, young, & up and coming people in my industry flourish!!!
it actually brings me so much joy. it’s the main reason I host my photography retreats!!
because we ALL can learn from each other. no matter if you’re 20yrs into a career or 6months. seeing a dm asking questions or needing advice brightens my day!! cause hello that’s so flattering and means so much 😭

physically I can’t comprehend the concept of being jealous of someone’s success. or judging them for how they run their business or what they wear to sessions or if they use somebody’s presets or if they built their own presets or what gear they have or how much they cost / don’t cost.
in my opinion that’s a real UGLY and WEIRD way to live life.

SO! to the “young” & “new” up and comers this is my message:

if you think you want to make this job (or any) a real career GO FOR IT. there isn’t a one way street you have to take to be “successful” in fact success looks different for ALL of us.
never let someone try and convince you otherwise.
try not to let the loud opinions others might have keep you from marketing yourself in the way that shows who YOU are. (because clients that love YOUR work want to see what makes you YOU)

the ones in the industry that try to tear you down or try to convince you this path is over saturated and a “waste of your time” are (for the most part) just feeling territorial over clientele. don’t listen to them. because at the end of the day clients shouldn’t be thought of as “MINE AND NOBODY ELSE’s”☺️ likeee are they not allowed to change their preferred style?!? news flash: they are and you actually shouldn’t have a thing to say about it

if you are serious about making photography or (insert your chosen profession here) your career WORK HARD at it. practice the craft. become the best you can be for the people who will choose YOU!! figure out what kind of artist YOU are. keep your ears tuned into constructive feedback. practice. practice. practice. & see how God uses you!

this world IS big enough for everyone to succeed!!!🤟🏼
