Half a Day, a Whole New World
I took this photo in a potter’s workshop in La Borne, just outside Bourges, in the Berry region of France.
La Borne is a village of makers. Everyone here seems to be a potter, glassblower, painter, sculptor — artists through and through. But even more than that, they’re kind, open-hearted people who live and breathe their craft.
You arrive in this quiet little town and drift from one studio to another, chatting about clay, tools, fire, or life itself. Conversations flow naturally, like you’ve known these people for years. It feels like stepping into a completely different world — slower, deeper, more human.
I spent half a day in this particular workshop, standing by the roaring kiln, watching sparks fly as the fire came alive. The heat, the rhythm, the focus — it was intense and absolutely mesmerizing. It’s incredible how something so raw and elemental can create pieces of such delicate beauty.
La Borne is not just a place. It’s a feeling that stays with you.
