My photo, “Winterset Tunnel in Autumn,” as a 16"w x 20"h metal print is available to bid on at the ARTober Fest Silent Auction.

This photo is an example of being in the right place at the right time. While out taking new autumn exterior photos for vacation rental listings, I noticed the stunning colors framing the tunnel. The wind was blowing just enough to knock a few leaves loose, creating a scene you definitely can’t plan for. When people see this photo, they often ask where it was taken. I get the joy of asking them if they ski at Timberline and then telling them that this is the tunnel they ski through. It’s a familiar place seen in a different context.

Lindy Point and the Blackwater Canyon first thing this morning.

While I'm happy taking photos anytime of day, in most weather conditions, there's something about fog hanging in and around the mountains that just makes my little photographer brain happy.

Founders Overlook off A-Frame Road.

On the mountain range to the left, you can see Timberline Mountain, along with a glimpse of Bald K**b and Canaan Valley Ski Resort. It's a unique experience to see the valley from this perspective, lengthwise instead of width-wise, and gives you a new appreciation for this distinctive landscape.

Middle Elakala Falls at Blackwater Falls State Park. This is the next level down from the iconic upper section the goes under the bridge. In my wonderful preparedness, I forgot my tripod's camera plate, but thankfully there were plenty of rocks to set my camera on.
