Templeton, California. The roadside bemusement continues. Anyone else include Ag tourism as part of your adventures?? We have a few farmers and ranchers in our own family, so YES we love a good Agriculture lesson woven in to our travels. We did not initially equate this area as a dairy industry leader, but we came to find there are tons of cattle ranches, creameries and dairy farms all over. And we did lots of sampling, of course! šŸ„ .

Lone Pine, California. Alabama Hills Recreational Area is California’s very own Red Rock/Moab-inspired terrain, thus further proving the case that our state truly does have a little bit of everything. The massive boulders and arches jut out of the ground, and surprisingly sit at the base of a gorgeous snowy mountain range of greenery- adding quite the contrast in color. šŸ” .
There are several arches here to choose from, the most popular being Mobius Arch. Seeing as there was quite the line on the trail leading to it, we opted to find another arch to check out. This one is the ā€œEye of Alabama Hillsā€ and while it looks small and inaccessible, it’s big enough to fit at least two people sitting in it and we would know cause we hiked up to it and tested it out. Note: definitely need to keep hydrated- this is high elevation, dry and not at all shaded.

Plymouth, California (Part 2): a town in the midst of a fascinating social experiment. On one side, million dollar business investments in the form of high end vineyards& wineries, brewery, restaurants and rest stops. On the other side, generations of locals living in squalor and in some cases, shanties. Makes you go hmmmm. šŸ¤”.
In this particular photo? A carousel. Inoperable, disentigrating, hazardous. Colorful, huge and oddly placed, It’s the first thing to catch your eye on Main Street. We, on one side sipping award-winning Gold Medal wine at a meticulously planned out Tasting Room, this Carousel across the street. Once maintained by an Aficionado, she has since fell ill we learned, and now this charmer sits as it’s own movie-worthy creepy ghost town, population one fiberglass horse. Rest in peace, Carousel, šŸŽ . .

Orangevale, California. The best thing to ever happen to Orangevale! Thank you for the top notch coffee, and your support for our first responders, Badfish. Also, your logo kinda looks like our matching tattoos, so we’re a sucker for the sentimental😘 .

McFarland, California. ..... When in McFarland, take the time to go for a run. This one is for all our fellow high school cross country runners- This highway overpass Art installment is always a treat to see when heading down Hwy99. This time we stopped the car and ran across the overpass too (I-spy our kiddo here) šŸƒ .
For those who are confused, McFarland was put on celebrity status with their Kevin Costner-starring-movie by the same name. It’s the story of a HS XC team put together from the farming fields that when on to be state champions. Being a XC runner from a small farming town myself, well..... naturally it brings all the warm fuzzies. šŸƒā€ā™€ļø .

Fort Ross, California: whenever you see a sign signaling a State Park..... stop and poke around. We promise it’s worth it. Have we mentioned that enough yet? šŸ¤”.
This photo is just one angle taken of an original Russian Settlement on the Northern coast of California. On the other side of the camera is the wide open Pacific Ocean, unobstructed. Breezes of eucalyptus trees that grow beyond this Fort..... History never smelled so sweet. 4 buildings full of fascinating artifacts and a few docents to tell the stories, it’s an easy detour while passing through on HWY 1. Don’t ever say we didn’t tell you! .

Newman, California: Who ever thought a dumpster could be so pretty?? (Well surely some urban-hipster-innercity ā€˜burb has thought to do it, but us here country folk leave it to these here vandals šŸ˜‚).
This pretty little thang was found along I-5 at a Vista Point rest stop. Have any of you stopped at a Vista Point? You should. It usually is a clear sign that there is something worth looking at 🧐 and this one here in Newman gave sweeping views of California’s greatest resource: Our Farm lands. The Central Valley. Or what we like to call, The California Ag Belt. It’s magnificent. It’s inspiring. It’s humbling. ā˜€ļø .
Where in California do you suggest we check out? ā˜€ļø .

Sausalito, California. Do you see just how far this trail stretches for?! The best view we believe can be found right here at the Marin Headlands. This is the Black Sand Beach Trail with these steps taking us straight to a secluded beach. It will give you not only an amazing workout but also an amazing reward of Golden Gate Bridge views, Pacific Ocean, and all those other nature-inspiring discoveries. What’s great about a place like Marin Headlands is that you can park just about anywhere, jump on a trail and be satisfied, making it whatever you want it to be. ā›° .

West Sacramento, California (part 3): Sal’s Tacos & Taco Tuesday. Basically our love for Mosaic Art, The Sacramento Kings and Mexican Food came together and is forever embedded here. Literally, from outdoor walkway to inside walls, tables, booths and ceiling, this ENTIRE restaurant is completely covered in mosaic tiles created by the owner himself, Sal. 🌮 .
So, it’s a good thing the food is authentic AND phenomenal because you’ll want to go admire this building in a tourist-y way but you won’t want to just stand there looking silly and taking pictures so indulge yourself with lunch, which will then turn in to dinner with all the leftovers. 🌮.You can’t miss this place due to all the bright colors but no matter if you do, the entire area is going through a revitalization so enjoy the community gardens, murals, and shops in the area as well. āœŒšŸ¼! . . . šŸ“ø

San Luis Obispo, California. When in SLO, do as the SLOians do, and overeat yourself to oblivion with a ā€œSandoā€ from High Street Market & Deli. The small shop is always crowded, which means everyone who arrived before you already decided it was worth the wait, so why not you too??? Helpful hint: go with one or more friends so you can all order something different and then just share like your mama taught you. Duh. Dilemma resolved, you’re welcome!! Pictured: my ā€˜tropical vacation sando’ and a fresh brewed ice tea. Not Pictured: Us in a food coma shortly after. And, Yes that’s cranberry sauce! 🄪.

Davis, California (part 2). Steps from home, yet a first class education of the world. Davis is a well-crafted incubator of love, community, diversity, inclusion and all those other ingredients the expand the mind, expand the heart. Visiting is worth the trip, worth the adventure. šŸŒŽ . .
This image we snapped today is in honor and remembrance of Officer Natalie Corona. Found as we strolled the UCDavis Arboretum, there are hundreds of locks on either side of many bridges. This particular lock stood out, however: Unique, apart from the crowd, stunningly beautiful, and the biggest heart to be found. šŸŒŽ . .

Elk, California: We get a kick out of handmade road signs telling you which way is where, and we also get a kick out of small, local grocery markets with EXCELLENT coffee on the ready! When lost in the midst of Coastal-Nowhere, a hot panini from The Elk Store is where you need to find yourself. Note: did not see any Elk. šŸ¤·šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļøšŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļø.
