In case you want to know if you can still schedule the photos when the forecast is stormy weather, the answer is yes!

It requires flexibility and a close eye on the radar, but we can almost always find our window to create beautiful Gulf Coast memories.

While I thrive in sunshine, the storm clouds on the Gulf Coast create a spectacular backdrop for portraits.

May you rest in the peace of Christ today.

Forever enchanted by stormy skies over the Gulf Coast. I know there’s peace and beauty in the sunny days, but the storms are unlike anything else. Wild and untamed. I’ve found they have beauty too.

Do you have any “helpers” in your life that make your days brighter?

It was easy to get lost in all of the hard things the past 4 years but I am taking life one step at a time and remembering again how to live well.

If you have been or are going through a dark season, keep walking until you feel the sun on your face again. 🫶❤️

I decided a week ago to start running. I’ve never been good at it, and it’s intimidating to start something new when you have an autoimmune disease. I’ve been worried about having a vertigo attack in the heat and being embarrassed and helpless.

Life is too short not to try new things. I want to be the healthiest in this next season of life. With Bryan’s encouragement, I decided to go for it.

Today was my 5th run and 1st 5K. It was far more fun than I expected. It was better doing it with friends. Thanks for snapping photos Dawn!

Here’s to doing things that make us uncomfortable in 2026 to grow and live fuller lives for our good, for others, and for the glory of God.

Fellow runners, please leave all of the tips. 🫶

This is a common question I get asked.

For me, it’s not a problem. I just need to know, because I love sharing favorites from clients to bring good into the world.

Every parent has to decide how we will face the digital age. I’m here to support you however you choose.

For some parents, that means showing our fun freely, for others it means showing no faces, and for others it means staying offline completely.

My hope is that your photos don’t live online anyhow. I want them to be on your walls and in your albums so you can enjoy them for years to come.

Cloudy skies, salty air, bare feet in the sand, and three generations gathered together at a Dauphin Island beach rental house. 🌊🤍

One of the things I love most about extended family sessions is that they aren’t really about taking photos. They’re about capturing life as it is with those you love most.

When families vacation together, it’s easy to spend all week saying, “We really need a photo of everyone.” Then the trip ends and everyone heads home. Taking an hour during your beach week to document the people you love most gives you something that lasts long after the trip ends.

It’s no secret. Cloudy beach days are some of my favorites. The soft light creates beautiful skin tones, keeps everyone comfortable, and lets us focus on genuine connection instead of squinting into the sun.

This Dauphin Island session was full of laughter, hugs, grandparents loving on grandbabies, and the kind of moments that remind me why family photographs matter.

Years from now, these images won’t just show what everyone looked like. They’ll remind this family how it felt to be together.

While I’m at the beach serving families all summer, I still believe Redemption Square Farm is dreamy with its majestic oaks and natural fauna.

We made time for some quick cousins photos while they were in town.

When’s the last time your family had photos? If it’s been a while, I’d love to create more for you.🫶

Small business and entrepreneurship have always been woven into my life. I grew up watching my parents work hard, serve with integrity, and pour themselves into our community in ways that made it a better place.

Sixteen years into owning my own business, I see it now more clearly than ever: what a gift it is to build something that reflects who we are and what we value.

Culture is shaped in living rooms, at kitchen tables, in storefronts, behind counters, and in conversations with the people right in front of us. The way we love and serve in our businesses truly matters.

Because every small business either strengthens a community—or weakens it.

So as we move through this holiday season, small business owners, I want to gently encourage you to take a fresh look at how you’re running yours.

Are you serving from a place of genuine care?
Are you using your business to bless your family and the people you cross paths with?

Are you offering excellence, skill, and empathy?

Are you meeting needs with humility, kindness, and intentionality?

And for my fellow Christian business owners—would anyone know you follow Jesus by how you do business? By the way you serve, listen, honor commitments, and care for people?

May our businesses be places of joy.
Places of hospitality.
Places of faithful service.
Places where the world feels more hopeful in this Advent season because of how well we love Jesus and others.

If you’re a small business and this resonates with you, I’d love to connect. I show up this space most often to showcase the beautiful families I serve with photography. My husband and I run a separate small business, Salt Marsh Digital, where we help small businesses scale with confidence through modern branding, business strategy, streamlined systems, and custom built websites and tools tailored to your next level of growth.

We’d love to partner with you to make 2026 your most impactful year yet.
