Forest National Park – Painted Desert - a place where art comes to life

A nature’s work leading to landscape formations in colorful hue from lavenders to reds to oranges to pinks to greys! Earth’s natural disasters such as volcanic eruptions, floods, earthquakes, over a period of millions of years worked miraculously to form unique and picturesque stacked layers of colorful stones that radiate breathtaking beauty.

Note: At the entrance, we were strictly informed not to take any rock or twig even if it is small one. It is indeed illegal to do so and can result in a fine. That was surprising fact to me but a little research into that gave me the reason behind it. First is safety perspective, it is desert area and there could be ants, spiders, bugs, or snakes hiding under a rock which can bite or hurt you. Second is protecting these lives under the rocks as when you take away their shelters, they must move out of their comfort zone or be exposed to dangers and lose their life. So, for us, it may seem a small rock, but it has a great impact on the environment in ways we may never understand. Rocks may not seem very important to us but to nature, it’s a piece of its home.
