Fall means two things around here. Football, and senior season.

That's me and my wife at Neyland Stadium for a Tennessee game, born and raised a Vols fan and it's never worn off. By September we're a few weeks into the season, the stadiums are loud, the rivalries are real, and that same energy is why fall is the best time of the year to be behind a camera, too.

Between running TriStar and just being a fan on a Saturday night, this season always feels the same way: full. Full schedule, full stadiums, full calendar of senior sessions and game coverage. If your senior's fall is looking just as packed, this is the season to get their session locked in before it fills up completely.

Linemen Appreciation Post: If there’s one position group that doesn’t get enough love, it’s the offensive line. Before a quarterback can hit a fade route for six, or a running back turns the corner for a big gain, a large human has to get into a two-point stance. Then, perfectly balanced and ready to explode as soon as the ball is snapped, it’s up to them to give the rest of the offense the time needed to execute.

Tessa's senior session did something that every session should. It let her showcase the different parts of who she is.

There's the portrait everyone expects: a black jumpsuit, golden light rolling across an open field, that easy, direct smile. Then, same outfit, same field, she picked up her lacrosse gear, the stick, the gloves, the goalie mask, and the whole mood shifted. Confident. Focused. The look of someone who's spent years standing in a net waiting for a shot to come at her.

And then a third moment entirely, seated in a quiet stone chapel in a soft floral dress, reading her Bible, completely still. Three different sides of the same senior, all true, all worth capturing.

That's the kind of session we build when a senior tells us who they are instead of just picking one pose off a list. Tessa was a lacrosse goalie headed toward graduation, and her photos carry both the athlete and the person underneath the uniform. If your senior has more than one side too, that's exactly what a real session should make room for.

Some senior sessions happen wherever the light looks good. Forrest's happened on ground his family has known for years.

We shot his session on his family's land in North Georgia, and it changed everything about how the photos feel. There's a spot at an overlook with views of the surroundign mountains, and another down by a pond where the tree line reflects right off the water. Late afternoon light, no crowd, no rush. Just Forrest, in a spot that's actually his.

That's the difference between a location that photographs well and a location that means something. Forrest's parents didn't just get portraits back. They got a record of a specific place their son helped build, at exactly the moment he's about to leave it.

If your senior has a place like that, a piece of land, a porch, a backyard that's been the backdrop to their whole childhood, that's worth building the session around. We'll help you figure out where.
