Pro tip: Do what these two did. Hire vendors your trust and then do that- trust them. Your vendors are always going to produce their best work when you trust them and let them do their job. When I feel like I have that trust from my couples, I’m not overthinking a shotlist in my head. Instead, I’m watching and composing and noticing light and emotion and texture. This is a flow state. If I’m constantly being pulled out of my flow state to replicate someone’s Pinterest poses or cramming through a timeline that doesn’t breathe, those are all of the things we might miss. In the end, all I need is you to tell me what you value most and then let me do the rest. A mood board is cool but your mood board is already displayed to us in the wedding details, decor and locations you’ve established. All of this is not to say you can’t ask for specific things or tell me what you love, but more so to share the value of trust when it comes to a creative process.
