Something I’ve been thinking about lately is the permanence of photography. It can be intimidating to step in front of the camera for many reasons, but I’ve noticed in the moments I’ve sat with my family going through old photos- that every moment that was captured has meaning and depth to it. Sometimes the best connections come full circle. When my mom heard her coworker’s daughter needed a photographer for her graduation photos, she didn’t hesitate to pass along my name — and I couldn’t be more grateful she did.
From our very first conversation, I knew this shoot was going to be something special. When my client mentioned she wanted a library-inspired setting, my mind immediately went to a location I’d had on my wishlist for so long: Monkey & Dog Books. The moment I thought of it, I just knew — cozy, charming, and full of character, it was the perfect backdrop to tell her story.
Walking through those shelves, I wanted every frame to feel like her — her intelligence, her warmth, her personality woven into every detail. I paid close attention to the little things, because it’s the little things that make a photo feel less like a picture and more like a memory.

Busy toddlers don’t sit still.
They don’t pose perfectly.
They don’t wait for the light to hit just right.

And honestly? I wouldn’t want them to.

The magic of this season isn’t in perfectly folded hands or forced smiles at the camera. It’s in the way they run full speed into your arms. The way their curls bounce when they laugh. The way they study a flower like it holds the secrets of the world. The way their tiny hand instinctively reaches for yours.

Toddlers are movement. They are curiosity. They are pure, unscripted joy.

When I photograph little ones, I don’t try to control them — I follow them. I let them explore. I let them twirl. I let them be exactly who they are in that moment. Because years from now, you won’t just want to remember what they looked like… you’ll want to remember who they were.

The scrunched nose smiles.
The serious little thinker face.
The belly laughs.
The way they fit perfectly on your hip.

Those are the moments that last a lifetime.

As a mom, I know how quickly this stage passes. One day you’re chasing them with snacks and wiping sticky fingers… and the next you’re wishing you could hear those tiny feet running down the hallway again.

My goal isn’t perfection.
It’s preservation.

I’m here to capture the chaos, the connection, and the candid in-between moments — the ones that feel ordinary now but will mean everything later.

My boys are so excited for valentines that they made up their own little song about it before getting in the car this morning. One of my boys told me he’s a “love bird”. I am so overwhelmed by the cuteness ❤️😫
