I have spent many years creating landscape photography. Ansel Adams' quote: "You don't improve nature. You reveal your impression of nature, or nature's impression on you." This statement has stuck with me for years, so much that it is the first page of my website. In the early 1900's, America was discovering the western United States. National Parks were being designated, like Yosemite and the Grand Canyon. Ansel Adams was commissioned by the Department of the Interior to capture the grandeur of the West. He spent years between the 1930s and the early 1940s traveling in his "Woody". It was a large interior car like today's Suburbans. It was called the Woody because the sides were made of wood. Ansel loved this car because it could carry his large-format camera, tripod, and camping gear. He built a platform on top to get a higher angle for photography. Ansel has been an inspiration to many. His black-and-white images are spectacular. are in the National Archives.

To have my work included among photographers from around the world is deeply meaningful. One Eyeland is known for its highly selective curation process, showcasing exceptional photography and visual artistry across the global creative community.
These awarded images represent more than beautiful locations — they reflect God's creations in quiet mornings before sunrise, long hours waiting for the right light, and a deep appreciation for the landscapes that continually inspire me. From the dramatic colors of the American West to intimate moments of atmosphere and texture, each photograph is an invitation to slow down and experience the natural world with wonder.
I’m incredibly grateful to Bob Killen of National Park Photographers Expeditions for his support and for allowing me to help him teach and navigate 10 western national parks and BLM lands last year. I also want to acknowledge my wife, Angie, for allowing me to be away so much last year while I followed my passion. I drove a couple of photographers out to Coral Pink Sands State Park right before sunset. This park is due west of Kanab, Utah. It was hard to find a place to catch the last part of the sun on the sand without dozens of high-beam headlights on dune buggies. Southern Utah is an incredible place of color and geological marvels. https://stateparks.utah.gov/parks/coral-pink/
