A Barn Owl and a Burrowing Owl. The Barn Owl was found in an abandoned house way out in the country near the coast. I was thinking there would be one in there and as I approached the house, one flushed right in my face. It flew way out in the field and landed. I felt bad for rousting it so I started to get back in my car. Just before driving away, I noticed it was flying back to the house and got some daytime flight shots. The Burrowing Owl was a known rarity in Dallas County that was sadly being pushed out of it's habitat by the surrounding on-going housing development. Won't be long before you won't be able to find one in the county anymore ( I hope I am wrong).

While walking through the flooded forest at Harry Moss Park, I heard a Hooded Warbler that I have found 3 times without ever seeing it, just hearing its song. As I walked a few feet forward towards the song, I heard some BIG splashes coming from the trail (now a river). I look and see it’s an otter!!!! I knew not to move and just sat watching it splash around 30 ft away. Then to my great surprise it headed right for me and showed off its catch!! What an amazing experience!!
