As the last 3 months of the year are upon us, it has me reflecting on all the stories I've had the joy of telling this year. I can't thank you enough for allowing me to join in your space to tell visually tell these stories:

● Flight graduations galore; capturing the high achievements of our Army's newest aviators, and the joy felt as such a tough season came to an end.

● So many new lives joining our world, with parents excitedly awaiting their arrival while soaking in the last moments before baby comes earth side

● Couples embracing their love story and telling the story of their connection, favorite hobbies, and personalities through photos.

● The excitement of families seeing their students fly for the first time, and the rush of emotions as they watch hard work come to fruition.

● Mothers embracing the newness of motherhood, tenderly nurturing and fiercely loving their children.

My. Heart. Is. Full.

Who else is enjoying the bite of coolness in the air right now?

Fall is when my spirit comes alive…feeding into the excitement of winter with thick cable knots and cozy hot chocolate.

As much as I love the feeling of sunshine on my back during a good afternoon at the pool, the summer heat exhausts me and the mosquitoes have too much fun with my skin.

So, when that first bite of fall comes, my excitement grows.

🍂More time outside, my little toddler embracing the art of grounding.

🍂 The warmth only the truest days of autumn can give finally hitting my portfolio.

🍂 Cool fall mornings spent journaling on the back porch with my favorite owl mug in hand filled with the childhood nostalgia of sipping on “Fall Coffee” (it’s a simple recipe).

🍂 Capturing the new traditions my family and yours will embrace as we teach our children about the magic of October.

Just typing this out has me feeling so warm and cozy on this overcast day!

Do you ever wonder how you can stand out as a photographer?

First, I’m just going to go ahead and call this post a must-save.

Here's my approach to standing out as a photographer:

Start out with exploring the uniqueness of your clients. No two clients are the same...so why would you photograph them in the same way?

On our inquiry call, I learned that Ant & Gabi were looking to have engagement photos done. After digging deeper, Gabi began to share how they bond over being Red Sox fans and "foodies".They love taking notes of their favorite restaurants to share with family members...

One of their favorite ways to settle down is to go to the lake and be present with each other; especially in the midst of flight school and college.

With a few artistic touches, it was decided that the perfect setting would be by our local lake while enjoying pizza and their favorite red wine...joking that we were testing our luck with white clothes and red wine.

All of these moments came from one simple question I asked during our inquiry call:

"It's Friday night, and you both just had the longest week of your lives...what are you doing to reconnect?"

This opened up:

➔ How they take care of each other
➔ What moments bring their bond into strong connection
➔ What setting allows them to be most comfortable?
➔ Room for uniqueness to their images

When it comes to photographing our clients, beautiful settings are so important...and I love a beautiful field just as much as the next photographer...

BUT.

What if we took it a bit deeper for our clients to TRULY connect with their photos? To fully see their love for everything that it is : unique & beautiful.

The number one mistake I made when pursuing photography full time:

Allowing fear to keep me from pursuing it sooner.

If you want to become a photographer, do it. If you want to go full time, do it sooner than later.

Mistakes are inevitable, but these are definitely ones you can avoid.

Are you afraid to make the plunge to full time? DM me - I love encouraging people and am an open book with my experiences.

550 of you guys embracing this corner of the internet, and my heart couldn’t be more thankful!

I remember the day I saw the first 50. My thoughts went along the lines of “well, introversion can’t stop you now…people are invested”

And I’m invested in you. Telling your stories together through beautiful art.

This past year, I’ve been so prayerful about the stories I would get the opportunity to capture…asking God to prepare my heart for each and every one of them.

I’ve had the blessing of sitting with my clients through excitement and heartbreak…fears of breaking through to confidence, and embracing their newfound confidence.

I’ve gotten to capture stories of fearless love, walking hand in hand clinging to the vows of marriage, celebrations of conquering difficult seasons, and embracing the excitement of new experiences.

What a joy it has been. What a joy it will be to get to capture your story, too.

I photograph from the heart. Every step in the journey from inquiry to delivery is carefully thought out and prayed over…digging deeper to have an opportunity to deliver YOUR story back to you.
